That MJ, James Brown and Prince tape again! The infamous Prince,Michael Jackson and James Brown video where Prince
seemingly makes a fool out of himself and is clearly not in control makes me think that it's the reason that Prince has been forever sayin "On the one!" and "Gimme 2! Gimme 3!" which meshed into him sayin "on the one!" and having the
band stop, which he then turned it into saying "Las Vegas!" or whatever jargon he had on his mind. Seein that pivotal performance with JB and MJ makes me wonder if that really affected Prince and left a permanent scar on him. Of
course he went on to be able to outdo MJ when doin James Brown imitations etc., but it seems to have continued and stayed with him in the 80's. Before the "performance" he was synth fried punk funk and roll..then after that he introduced the JB revue style. He stopped after SOTT though.

Although he seemed drunk/high, the only time he really looked bad IMO was when he pulled the lamp post down and he wasn't to know that wasn't securely bolted.

Not making excuses for him but couldnt a sober person make the same mistake? It was James BRown's stage; not Prince's. How would he really know it was nt bolted down. Hell, he only weighed about 125 lbs - who knew he would be heavy enough to knock the post over?

Sure a sober person could have made the same mistake smile BUT when he was leaving the stage he seemed so out of it, like he was trying to keep his balance. Had he been sober he wouldn't have needed that extra support and he might have thought twice about putting his body weight on a stage prop.

Even if it happened to a sober person, it's still embarrasing as all hell. The fact that he had already made such a bad impression & was high only made it that much more clumsy...

I agree about him being nervous however, I

always thought when watching this that

he was a wee bit tipsy. Just my opinion!
