The Way was set up as a community hub after the riots in 1966 due to the racial discrimination and inequalities black people faced.

It played a role in Prince and his peers lives in regards to their musical development/journey and the documentary should be about both the bolded, they go hand in hand.

This is an opportunity to learn more about his formative years, where he grew up and the streets he stomped. There's not enough emphasis on that as far as I'm concerned and I'm really interested to hear from people who were hopefully there at the time.

I'm looking forward to this documentary.

I haven't seen the trailer but anyone interested in Prince should find this documentary appealing. Who wouldn't want an insight in to this part of his young life and where he came from?

I think The Way is really important in Prince's story, it should be documented properly and I hope it is. If it hadn't been set up after the '66 riots we may never have had the wonderful experience of Prince,,,,,, 💜

Yes I only got around to reading this recently, it's excellent! Done well this film could be a good accompaniment to it. and let's be honest, more people are gonna watch a film than read a book.

know very little about it tbh, not read andreas book either, but id be interested to see.

it looks good in the trailer actually, better than i thought it would be from the illustration.

tbh im also watching it as i hope some of the flyte tyme and time guys are in there too.

looks like an excellent documentary on the influence of the tight-knit "black" community in North Minneapolis and how it helped to shape not only Prince's career, but the careers of Sonny Thompson, snd Andre Cymone also...i can see how and why the racist non black people, and people who are not from North Minneapolis would have some type of problem with it, or disdain for it, as it doesnt fit their narrative of what they wanted Prince to be.

I just had a look at the Charly Records' 94 East re-issue and there is a lot of information in the Vol 1 booklet that's maybe akin to this film.

I started a tread because I didn't know there was a first one. When I typed it in the search box nothing came up. Maybe if it had, I wouldn't have made a "dupe" tread.

You know, whatever truth or crap she tells, i don't care.

Her voice, and her singing over decades... I still am excited whenever she does something new.

Same, I don't care about MJ's child abuse acusations / truth or lies either, still love his super written songs.
