What % of fans do u think are "new" 2 Prince?

I have no stats that I can rely on.

Since 2016, is there a reliable way 2 measure what % of current Prince fans are new in the sense they didn't buy his music before he passed away, but now they do?

I asked this question because I wonder who is buying these deluxe sets?

I have a feeling it's 80% plus long time Prince fans.

I doubt there's anyway to know. I would guess it's even higher than 80%

As you'll recall, both 1999 and Sign O' the Times were isssued in standard Deluxe and Super Deluxe formats. While the standard editions and maybe even the Deluxe editions had some casual and non-fans purchase them out of curisosity, I doubt anyone besides a hardcore fan bought the Super Deluxe versions.

i dont think theres many new fans...music has changed so much and the ways and reasons people listen to music has changed so much...most of the younger music fans are into totally different things and completely different genres of music and entertainment personalities and personas. ..the people buying Prince joints are mostly diehard fans and completists that are replacing lost albums or purchasing joints they never bought of maybe have become damaged over the years

I would probably qualify as one of the newer fans as I was born well after Purple Rain, so I certainly didn't grow up in the 1980s during Purple Mania.

As far as my personal experience with Prince, I didn't start buying the albums until somewhere around 2010 and, since then, saw him live once. During the last decade, I have purchased MANY of his albums and, right now, happen to be listening to an album.

The original post defined "new fans" as people who started buying Prince albums after he passed away in 2016. By the definition, you're not a new fan.

haven't a clue but with so many new artists speakig about his influence on them it's inevitable that new fans will be jumping on the purple train. That's great & much needed to keep the legacy going.

They should ALL be welcomed.

I think there are a lot more who might have been lightweight fans, who might be a bit more into him.

It's hard to say about new fans though
