I remember how the fans ALWAYS hated Prince(r.i.p.) turning over vocals to Shelby(whom did one of the best per-interviiws about Prince(r.i.p.) on 60 mintes) live she got SO MUCH hate around here in the I HATE SHELBY threads. I guess Prince(r.i.p.) is now having the last laugh. I hope Troy makes Morris & Shelby the new spokesman for Prince's(r.i.p.) new pre 2000 vault material. I don’t mind there voices but I’m the same, my excitement has dropped a little not having prince on main vocals for some of the tracks

Prince fans don't tend to like him turning over the vocals to anybody

[Edited 5/19/21 14:52pm] Is writing (rip) every time after you write the name of a deceased person really a thing? I’ve fever seen anyone do that before. I ONLY do that for Prince(r.i.p.). Because I respect & will honor his legacy 4EVER.... Yes same here but Prince has done this many times before with albums like Graffiti Bridge and D&P. The problem is that I've already heard half of the songs on W2A (Hopefully there's different versions of a few) and the rest is new to me. Having someone else doing lead vocals for some of those tracks are not a good sign. I think W2A will just be another Prince album with only a few gems on it (Born 2 Die seems like one). That's why the estate should have included some outtakes that didn't make it to the album. I'm still excited about this release and looking forward to it [Edited 5/22/21 5:31am] Welcome 2 The Dawn

this roll out is boring as shit. 1999 and sott had me much more hyped. thinking about them every day. not because i'm one of those loser 80s purists but because it just felt more busy. i hope i can have at least a few fun months with the diamonds and pearls lead up.

So long between announcement and release date that I forgot when it comes out. Got excited today because I got an email from CD Japan about taking payment, so assumed it must be on the way. But no, there’s some credit card 60 day shedazzle and only by checking on here, it’s still another 2 months to go. Wonder if like the black album, it’ll get cancelled a week before! There may or may not be something coming!

Like I said numerous times here, and I was right for the release date of this project and others, it is very likely that W2A will ve pushed back for at least another week.
It happened for other estate releases before. Moreover, vinyls sales have so dramatically increased, there is a worldwide supply problem. There is only 10 vinyl plants in the world. They have to order months in advance, 3 to 5 months in fact. To think the estate wasted so much vinyls in their releases is disgusting. What was the point of their forced double format release? ( Originals, W2A, Piano and Mic) What what the point of their ludicrous 13 vinyls SOTT ? With 2 vinyls for the edits and remixes? 6 vinyls Emancipation? Versace Experience that was sourced from a used audio cassette? Why don't they release an audio cassette box set since they re at that? At least it would be less heavy, and a casette contains more than a CD. [Edited 6/1/21 15:34pm]

We know, we know. You are always right. But no matter what they did or didn't release, roughly half of us would still complain about it I think.

There's no chance for such an expensive set to hit #1, even in terms of pure sales charts. And with streaming added on the Billboard 200, it will hit like #20. The December month is also very competitive, and it will be likely lost in the Charts. They did a very good job overall I agree. But if their crazyness of Superdeluxe 15 vinyls prevent them for releasing it when they want and should, and to postpone it forever like the Crystal Ball set, then they should be more reasonable. For the D&P SDE, they should for instance reconsider to release the B-sides remixes and edits on 8 vinyls. 4 CDs along with the vinyls set would be just fine. It would be a pain in the ass to listen to a 2 vinyls Gett Off Remixes. Even for the concert they should reconsider it to be a 4 vinyls, that's insane. The more reasonable would be to put on vinyls the original albums, the true B-sides ( Call the Law, etc.) And of course all the unreleased stuff. If that makes the set more affordable and easy to release, it s a win-win situation for them. Who are listening the Edits and remixes of 1999 and SOTT on vinyls anyway? [Edited 6/2/21 2:33am]

Where do you get that nonsense from? There's about 10 vinyl plants in the US alone. More like about 50 vinyl plants, and there are new ones popping up all the time. We even have one here in Norway.
The long wait *is* real, though. It was long to begin with, and Covid (pluss the rising demand for vinyl) has really messed up things lately. Optimal in Germany, where most new Prince records are being pressed are now operating with a NINE month waiting time. Major labels get to cut the queue a bit, but this is probably why we haven't heard anything about Crystal Ball yet. Several big box sets by big artists have been delayed for a long time.
The main pressing plant I use myself (Sony's plant in Poland) has gone from 10 weeks to 7 months now.
Luckily there are three companies who make new vinyl presses (plus GZ in Czeck Republic who make their own), and the biggest pressing plants have ordered a LOT of them recently. But the long waiting time will probably last for at least a year.
