What is your favorite Prince Era?

Here are the options?

Baby Prince: 1978-1979

Rude Boy: 1980 - 1981

Purple Music: 1982-1983

Baby I'm A Star: 1984-1985

Parade: 1986

Peach & Black: 1987

Lovesexy Is The One: 1988

Batman: 1989

Graffiti Nude: 1990

Typhoon and Pearls: 1991

Gansta Glam: 1992 - 1994

Symbol: 1995

Emanciptation: 1996 - 1998

Rave un2 The Joy Fantastic: 1999-2000

The Rainbow Children: 2001 - 2003

Musicology: 2004 - 2005

3121: 2006 - 2007

LotusSound - 2008 - 2009

20Ten: 2010 - 2013

3rdEyeAge: 2014 - 2015

Piano & Microphone: 2016

Mine is RUDE BOY (80- 81).

LOVE the raw and edgy FUNK AND ROLL. Prince was hungry, fierce, and un-afraid.

That list is ridiculous. Why don't you just list every album and ask what is people's favorite, not that all this hasn't been done a million times already.

His best eras were 79-89, and 93-97.

I could maybe put together one really packed good 80-minute album from the aughts. Maybe.

Yeah, I'm not so sure about these eras as they seem a bit arbitrary at times. F

or example: 1991 and 1992-1994 are not separate eras as you have described/listed. 1992 has much more in common with the Diamonds and Pearls era than it does 1994.

And typhoon was literally mentioned in "Gangsta Glam," so how is that two different eras? (Plot twist: it's not.)

Purple music era (1982/1983)

this was an incredible, exciting era.Prince released his best album (‘1999’),he had two badass protege groups (The Time and Vanity 6) and he was starting to crossover into the pop mainstream. It was all starting to come together.

i will go with purple music era, 1999 so good

Neat to put it as an era as opposed to just a record, like someone mentioned, Vanity 6 and the Time, the look was coming together (nice to see a bit more clothes on!), the dancing was amazing, Jill and Lisa, the incredible B-sides. Only downside is short concerts still, so much more of 1999 could have been performed each concert.

kudos to the Purple era and the 79-80 era (think that straddles a couple of them), Prince was such a great early release and the energy and guitar of those dirty mind shows, incredible

1992-1994, though I'd probably include 95 in that category.

Roughly '91 to '98, so D&P to Crystal Ball (1998), give or take.

Been a fams since the first single. But, Prince, Controversy, 1999 and to just a little lower extent DM and PR are the death bed albums that will be on my mind. So, however we can work the first 3 into numbers is what will be my choice.
