Because of the release of 'The truth'... ...do you listen to the album..like me..in a new way...
..while listening..reading the lyrics..?

..I do...because...I'm german and didn't understand the lyrics that well...and listening in an intense way ..because .. it came with the Crystal Ball CDs which got more attention by me back in those internetless days.. If it were a vinyl record back in those 80s days I would have read the lyrics intensely..
I am really interested in this RSD release....they get my attention way more than only a CD packed in a set

I feel like Prince was in a chaotic state of mind during this time. Emancipation was meant to be his absolute peak but it wasn't and in his personal life he had to deal with a LOT to say the least. So, for me, the songs on The Truth and also on The War seem to reflect all that existencial crisis about what is real, what is success, what is freedom and what really matters in life.
Considering a fragile mind is fertile ground for new beliefs, no wonder his conversion took process on the following years. Madonna seemed to reflect about the same existencial crisis during American Life and went full Kaballah the next year.
