.

Even if so, the Estate would not reelase it.

Even aside from movie-rights and such.

I just listened to Elfman's Batman score (which I love) yesterday. He definitely incorporated a bit of Scandalous in there - but that is all I hear of Prince. Totally respect that he stuck to his guns.

Irony of life a pop musician from a more than average band become

serious movie score maker and the guy we hail as a Genious got stuck in the realm of pop music

playing the same setlist and same guitar solo again and again. i was always hoping that Prince will eventually leave the world of pop music and become some serious music condducter or similar.

And I think the credits in the movie and score album reflect that. They also incorporate elements of "Beautiful Dreamer" by Stephen Foster (a mid 19th century song).

I enjoyed that Elfman used part of "Scandalous" in "Love Theme." It creates a more full-bodied and inherent notion to the music across the board.

And he was respectful of Prince's legacy. Who knows, it might have worked.

In one of the biographies it mentions P submitting an orchestral score for Batman but Tim Burton didn't think it worked.

I skimmed through Elfmans's interview but it seemed Burton chose Elfman before he submitted the score?

Though I do remember Burton saying he was a Prince fan though his music wasn't right for the movie.

Like I said before in another thread about Elfman's score, Danny Elfman "borrowed" heavily from Gottfried Huppertz' soundtrack for "Die Nibelungen" for his Batman theme.

Of course it didn't. Prince knew nothing about orchestral writing. He outsourced that shit on his own records till the day he died. Prince was not a classical musician, he couldn't read music, and he certainly couldn't write it on a page for someone else to read. No shame there. That's not what he was about. It wasn't his focus. The idea that Prince could do everything is ridiculous and does him no favors.

Yeah, supposedly he didn't know manuscript or how to write that way. Which is where Clare Fischer came in. It's in the book Slave to the Rhythm. But it sounds very hearsay, like no quotes.

P was obviously intelligent enough to understand music theory and learn it in minimal time. But maybe it never took his interest because he was all about what came instinctively to him. He was always that artist, that spontaneous so maybe he never changed.

Eric Leeds did a fair amount of orchestrating for him, too.

Prince didn't want to study music. He wanted to make music. Not passing judgment on his choices either way.
