It's becuz the anniversary is FREE... Of course people will come.

There was no need to bring the urn into it.

Well I mean with Covid they can't do what they've been doing every year since his passing. That's why I don't get this sudden sensitivity about acknowledging his passing and inviting the fans. They've done it every year and it wasn't free. The articles said the word "ashes", suddenly folks start clutching pearls on the org, when not even a month ago some were expressing wanting to see pictures of his dead body in open circulation. Yet a box of ashes sitting in his home he built is being disrespectful to his wishes? Sometimes people just want to have any reason to whine.

Well, I'm not one of the whing, sensitive, pearl clutchers that you mentioned, who expressed wanting to see pictures of his dead body, but I have no desire to look at someone's urn's full of ashes either. People can feel however they want to feel, and whether you want to see Prince's urn or not, that's their decision....no need to sarcastically call them names, be rude, or put them down.

I'm not big on falsehoods. Now that's true rudeness. Calling falseness out is not. Name calling? Where? Do any of us know this is about people coming to see an urn? The official postings don't even mention the urn. It may be there can't say it won't be, who knows. People have been invited to see the atrium and come pay their respects and leave stuff at the symbol. What in the heck is all this other stuff? Funny how only a select group are supposed to be allowed opinion.

^^I'm not big on falsehoods either, and imo, stating that "some just want to have a reason to whine" is in fact, calling them a whiner....who's whining? Stating people are sensitive, clutching their pearls, simply because they stated that they didn't want to see Prince's urn, when they're perfectedly entitled to do so or not, now that's rude.

So by that logic saying you wrote something down by definition makes one a writer? Yeah, no. An action by definition doesn't automatically imply you are that definition. That's just weird. If one doesn't want to pay their respects then don't. Seems simple enough. We can go around in a circle all day. Doesn't change facts.

And not that I'm trying to relitigate this but I'm still trying to figure out where the instruction to cremate Prince came from.

Was it something Prince wanted (which means he had to give that instruction to someone in the event of his death) or was it decided after he passed?

And if he did give that instruction, surely he must have given some thought (and possibly laid out plans) as to what to do with his legacy - IE his music and his assets.

And they must hold close to the World Record of Cremeating a Star so Fast!!! eek razz mad

I get the feeling that he may have metioned to Tyka either in passing or formally that he wished to be cremated and quickly to avoid the press/photos.

I don't see Prince laying out formal plans for his legacy...wish he had but who would that have been?

The cast of characters around him @ the end did not scream competence.

I was actually quite shocked at how quick it happened.

Opening up PP for free this year is very cool and wish I could go. Never been inside except for my April 2016 visit where no one could enter. I like the suggestion earlier on here of having the urn permenantly sit in a room where people can pass by or go into and pay their respects that way. Not moving around the building or displayed and removed from time to time. I hope someone over there is reading this.

And yes this is the Org. It wouldn't be the Org if there weren't a lot of whining and moaning especially of late.

Amen to the bolded blue above! nod thumbs up!

The little, gaudy urn does not hold all of his ashes. It's for show. As for WHY he was cremated, that's what he wished for his father and likely mentioned it as his desire. About 50% of people now choose cremation.

How do you know that for sure? confused eye
