Christgau was feeling it:

"Prince: 3121 [Universal, 2006]
It could be argued that music this masterful waives all claim to the sound of surprise--until you pay attention. Sure "Love" and "Satisfied" and "Fury" constitute a standard sequence, keyb funk to torch r&b to u-got-the-rock--but only by genius standards. Sure he overdubs all the time, but he risks letting the Other play bass and drums on the over-under-sideways-down title tune--and then immediately prefabs the cockeyed "Lolita" by himself. The dubiosities he induces NPG fans to collect prove only that geniuses know who their friends are. I'm back to suspecting that, at 47, the Abstemious One can keep laying top-shelf stuff on the public for as long as he's in the mood. Even if he gets on your nerves, treat him nice. A-"

He likes it more than u lot.

All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

christgau is kind of opaque.

i think at this point in his career, most critics would just give prince a pass.

What frequency is it recorded at? It's piecring and gives people who still have their hearing a headache because the keyboard melody is two octaves higher than it needs to be. Things aren't recorded at a "frequency". Are you talking about that 432hz bullshit that is 100% meaningless? It was recorded just like every other album of its day. The keyboard sound is piercing. If it's not to you then you may have some hearing loss in the treble areas.

The reason I ask is I have really good hearing (touch wood) just last year I had a proper tested it was a-ok.. So I wondered if frequency was behind this as I've noticed it's pretty polarising and i couldn't put my finger on what else it could be. I read prince recorded his music at a certain frequency once tuned to the earth or something. Perhaps this is untrue from what you wrote.. How would I know. It was played at a few clubs (rip London nightlife) back in 2005/6 and I don't remember people finding it uncomfortable. It is high though I think unnecessarily.

What is the significance of 432 Hertz?
Furthermore, 432 Hz resonates with 8 Hz (the Schumann Resonance), the documented fundamental electromagnetic “beat” of Earth. It just feels better. Research says that music tuned from this frequency is easier to listen to, brighter, clearer, and contains more inherent dynamic range.13 May 2018

Prince answered only one question on his Facebook Live Chat and it concerned 432hz. He linked to a Collective Evolution article on the subject.

I don't recall if Prince actually recorded at this frequency and if he did, what specific albums or songs that may have involved, but I believe that Facebook exchange is where the information originated from.

Black Sweat probably most overrated P song.

Best tracks - The Word, the Dance, Beautiful Loved and Blessed.

The world's problems like climate change can only be solved through strategic long-term thinking, not expediency. In other words all the govts. need sacking!

If you can add value to someone's life then why not. Especially if it colors their days...

Wasn't this about The Gold Standard ?
There was some (Yahoo?) Q&A planned and someone (a plant?) asked about this and that was his onluy reply in the entire Q&A.

Its just a decent retread of the kind of song he used to do but with modern sounds

Ppl just liked it as they wanted to hear prince sound current and back on top competing with Neptunes etc as well as like old, suggestive prince

But the word and the dance feel like more honest reflections of older prince

I like the Versace version better , wish it was longer. The bass line in it is extra juicy.
