It's horribly done colorization by someone. Colors bounce around, Tricky is both black and brown after the "YEAH!" moment. Bad, bad job.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

There is no nothing. We have the movie on most every format available.

Whoever did that colorization should be taken out back and whooped solely because they are just horrible at it.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Unfortunately, the new trend is to bastardize legitimate Prince media. Besides that colorization crap (Stale when Ted Turner did it to old films 30 years ago), there's a bunch of photoshops out there recently that "glamorize" him with heavier makeup, etc.
And maybe the worse, those black-and-white jobs where a female fan's face is 'shopped in right beside P's, so they appear to be snuggling. Good godt, women. That crap. (And I'm a woman.)

Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

It looks like AI/deep learning colorization to me. A lot of people in my circle experiment with this and the footage always has that weird, plastic quality. Upscaling old footage to HD with AI is equally objectionable to my mind.

This is a good example... quite apart from the conceptual question of whether old film footage should be tampered with, you simply lose so much more than you gain with present tech. People lap it up, but I think it's horrible:

This looks worse than when Ted Turner was promoting the new colorizing black & whites. The tech needs to improve a lot.
