I just listened to the song. the recording is in many ways very interesting and it is great to hear Pince pausing a few times to hit the right keys. I don't think I have heard him do that before.

I am having a discussion though with a friend who doubts the authenticity of the demo. He thinks it's not Prince, but an imitation.

Any thoughts?

i have to say i'm still not sure if it's him.

But i think an imitation would have "tried" harder to sound like the prince we know from demos.

I beleive it to be authentic. Based on my experiences, Purple Yoda is a person of integrity. Lyrics are very Princesque.

Well, without a doubt, it's him trying out a new demo on the piano. You can hear him figuring out the lyrics while playing the chords.

There's no FX applied or anything, just his regular voice in a (quite) low register.

Come on guys, who else could it be ?

Sounds very One Nite Alone-era, which is interesting.

Twice shy I'd guess. The piano playing isn't obviously him but the vocals sound right to me. I'd go with authentic.

For me, it's a bit of "too good to be true" - a completely new demo that has never been mentioned anywhere suddenly shows up on a random February day for no reason... This sounds like the real deal, but I can see why people get skeptical! Same with Neutoric Lover's Bedroom - a "holy grail" track is leaked and it sounds like nothing he was doing at that time.... so I was suspicious!

I don't think people who are sceptical about whether it is an authentic Prince recording or not, doubting your intentions. I think it is wonderful that people share new stuff. It is however at the same time very interesting to discuss the question WHY people think it IS or IS NOT Prince behind the keys. Both his vocals and his style of playing is up for debate.

The first 2/3 of the song sound like someone else trying to be Prince, but then the last 1/3 of the song does sound like him here and there. Ugh.

heard this stupid song about a bird crying or some shit on the radio... the dj said it was prince but i knew better. doesn't sound like him at all. this is just like that stupid fake song about the little red car people keep claiming is P.
