Some nice stuff there and the original NPG be’s on fire ... Goldnigga is a damn good album. Very underrated here. The production is particularly excellent. I would've loved to have heard Prince embrace a full album in that style and sound with the original NPG. I was listening to the Cabaret Metro show from 93 the other day and it is crazy. The funkiest renditions of 'Come' and 'Gett Off' I've ever heard. What a band... Whatever happened to the improved sound board of this show? The clips posted and that's it [Edited 3/12/21 4:28am]

Whoa, there....!
Eve's rap on TGRES is stellar (and totally fits that adam & eve mix).
The rest: co-sign "Had to get off the boat so I could walk on water..."

I don't know what the source of this is . It was brought up on his interview with Michael Dean (which is well worth a listen if you haven't heard it) and got a little laugh.

I will refute this.
I'm very much into the from. From Grandmaster Flash, Boogie Down Productsions, Beasttie Boys, Public Enemy, LL, Big Daddy Kane, Kool Moe D, west coast stuff, Egyptian Lover, NWA, etc. up to Eminem. I like them all, always have.
Tony M was a joke. A sad pitiful excuse for Prince to remain current, which failed miserably.

Poor Tony, getting erased from the annuls of Prince history. I agree all the songs are better withoiut the raps, but, I do like his vocal on 2Gether. "You always get the dream that you deserve, from what you value the most" -Prince 2013

Symbol album is one of his absolute best. One of the most balanced, eclectic and stands the test of time. Change nothing, ever. (Insert something clever here)

At the time Prince wanted a big hit album, and rap was really breaking into the top 10 around that time. From memory the top rapper was MC Hammer (can't touch this) around the time of Diamond and Pearls recording being recorded, and then Vanilla Ice (ice ice baby) around release date. I'll go out on a limb and say I might actually prefer TonyM to either of those. Prince wanted a real easy to sell commercial sound, and D&P is exactly that... Side note: Gett Off is the song that made me a lifetime fan! And D&P was my first Prince CD. 🍢

The rap is essential to L2T9 and works very well in that song. Live 4 Love ~ Love is God, God is love, Girls and boys love God above
