I just came back from Candy Dulfer's new album launch party. Her new album is called "Right in my Soul". The party was held in a fancy club called "Panama" just outside the center of Amsterdam.

Candy (who was dressed in gold) played several songs from her new album with her band, and I really liked it. The band was good, Ulco Bedd was on guitar and he knows how to make a funky sound. Candy sang a lot, and she has a good voice ! The album is cool, go and check it out.

But guess what, her third song was Xotica. Candy told the crowd that she had recorded it with Prince last year and that the titles of the numbers all began with an x. The crowd cheered when she mentioned Prince. It was played a bit less jazzy, and she improvised more on it, but it was clearly recognizable.

She also said that she recorded a song with Maceo for her last album but unfortunately he wasn't there. She also played her own song "Saxagogo" and "I want to take you higher" among others. A funky night !

(Hans Dulfer played a set after hers, but I really couldn't get into that. It's just to loose for me and the DJ was kinda annoying, but lots of people seemed to get wild on it...)
