The last arena show. March 4, 2016. Powerful.

I wasn’t excited about The Piano & a Microphone tour. I always preferred the 80’s shows. If it would of came to Philly I probably would of passed. I’m so guilty of taking his later work for granted. I stumbled across his show at The Oracle Arena which took place a little over a month before he died. Wow. The set list was perfect. The reaction of the almost 20,000 people was amazing. His performance was perfect. I hope this was filmed or recorded professionally and can be released at some point by the Estate. To me, it’s one of the most important shows of his career. The last arena show.

  • I think it sold out quickly.

He was also hosted by the Warriors (Thunder) on that trip. He sat courtside next to the owner, the cheerleaders danced to his music as well.

  • He also played @ The Paramount in Oakland, a beautiful, old, Art Deco landmark...more intimate as it holds about 3,000.

I went to the 2nd paramount show and the Arena show in Oakland. The arena show blew it outta the water. You hit it on the head with the set list and the crowd. Some shows just have that synergy between the performer and the crowd, it felt like we had it from the first note. Truly a special nite, he made a 20,000 seat arena feel like we were in his living room with him.

I've seen Prince in both arenas, outdoor ampitheathers and more intimate venues. The best experience I had were in the more intimate venues (specific example: Detroit Opera House - capacity 2,700). Sublime.

I was looking forward to Prince bringing P&M to Detroit at one of these smaller venues.

I was at that show. It was a total lovefest. Oakland was so off the charts! The setlist was amazing. He did The Beautiful Ones, which I had always been dying to hear him do on piano, I cried. My friend started crying when he did How Come You Don't Call Me. We left feeling like it was the best Prince show we had ever seen. We knew it was special.

A month later he was gone. We are really glad we have this final memory of him, to say the least.

The boots sound electric so can only imagine what it was like being there.
.
IIRC you’ve been to some of my favourite ever shows. I’m sure you’ve mentioned the 93 DNA aftershow and The Conga Room 2009. Bastard!
