The One U Wanna C . . . sounds like U2

It's been noted already that the intro Guitar from Planet Earth sounds like U2's "I Will Follow".

But I had their album Achtung Baby Deluxe playing yesterday on my walk, and I just noticed another soundalike Prince song (also from Planet Earth).

Prince's The One U Wanna C -- in parts, especially the guitarwork in the choruses, sounds a lot like U2's song Where Did It All Go Wrong.

I can't say I hear it on this one.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

It sounds like Shania Twain country pop.

The One U Wanna C is rather the One I don't Wanna Hear.

I always thought that this could have been a hit as a single. It has a certain mass appeal. Garbage bubblegum pop, for sure, but catchy lol

since this thread i now have it in my head.

its not bad actually, just another braindead, latter period prince song.

something about the 'i got a LOT of money' also doesnt sound quite so likeable, even in these times of pop stars bragging all the time.

At the end of the day, there's only so many chords.

Always got strong Shania vibes from this one - he probably wrote it for her.

I thought "Guitar" was the one from Planet Earth that was thought to be U2 influenced...

Yeah, people here used to always say the lead guitar line sounded like something The Edge did on one of their songs.

Toofunkyinhere

I dunno, always reminded me more of a song influenced by the The Cars/Buddy Holly or " "When you Were Mine" type style of song. "Guitar" on the other hand is a straight "i Will Follow" lead guitar lift with a rather clunky tune thrown on top of it...
We're here, might as well get into it.
