20ten is undeserved of the hate

I am listening to it for the first time in years, and I have always loved the title track, a hippy "Hair" like anthem done purple style with the retro handclaps. Give me that over the song "Resolution" ANY DAY.

And then holy shit, the following 3 tracks in a row are solid gems.

Starting to lose the pace of pure cut pop gem"dom" with Act of God and the following tracks.

title track on 2010? 3121 was a banger, but have to pan hard to find a lot of gold on the 2010 record

it's fine. i think the back half is pretty damn weak... but sticky like glue and future soul song make up for the rest's shortcomings

I actually made a small change to the tracklist. I put "Cause and Effect" at the beginning, and inserted "Hot Summer" (the longer version) just before "Everybody Loves Me." I liked the latter so much, it just felt like it belonged there. To me, the production on "Cause and Effect" melds quite well for the album, and acts as a great opener.

In my memory...the songs and the sound of them would fit in a random way mixed with MPLSound.

Dont think it was hated on other than Everybody Loves Me being a very odd choice of a track to even record and place on record. The rest of the songs are actually fine honestly. Just ended terribly. doh! not sure why Prince did that track it was liking to "Bitch Im Madonna".

I think it was Prince who treated the album as a throwaway by the way he treated those newspaper/ticket releases and how he handle it afterwards.

Lavaux and Future Soul Song are the two tracks I treaure, the other ones not really memorable.

It was like most of his albums after the mid 90's. Couple great tracks, a few good ones, a few ok ones and a couple clunkers. For a good while there, I was slicing his albums together to get one good one I liked. This one mixed together well with MPLS Sound.

It was the album he made to get him through hip surgery. That tells you pretty much all you need to know.

There isn't a title track on 20ten, but I love that album, and really wanted the full version... maybe we'll see it someday. "Act Of God" and "Compassion" got a lot of hate, and those are amazing. I remember he tried to get WB (and others) to distribute, but no-one would take it so he gave away a condensed version of the album. Strange, because it was really focused and a slight return to the Minneapolis sound.

"RICH FRIENDS" (supposedly on the 20Ten Deluxe) is such a great song.

It was circulating with dj chatter over the beginning and end but later on
a clean version did the rounds.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE that track. If that is all Prince himself (and if a song in
that same vein AIN'T GONNA MISS U WHEN UR GONE was too) than I can
dig where he was going with his sound.

Ultimately he got Joshua in to produce those type of songs but I think P did
a great job at updating his sounds a bit with these examples.

As for 20Ten. A couple amazing songs. A few nice ones. A few 'meh' ones.

It was probably his first album I really did not like at all. Just boring af except for Future Soul Song and Lavaux and sometimes Act of God.

I liked it quite a lot when it came out and I still think there are some good tunes on there, but I don't like the production (sound) of this album very much. The drums sound kinda weak in a lot of these tunes and could have sounded far punchier. Besides that not a bad post-2000 album.

RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

Does someone here remember the Walk in Sand music video?
It was made for an event during the summer of 2010, was it Montreux?
It was an animated video made with sand.
.
It made me like the song, that I didn't care much about before.

Future Soul Song is the last great Prince song.

Lavaux is fun too. I liked this album.
