G-Spot

I need shout my love for this song (his version at least). I wonder why this hasn't showed up on "Orginals" or even the purple rain deluxe remaster. I think he finished it in '83..anyway, missed opportunity.

His version is circulating in pretty good quality.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Love it, too... Don't think I've heard the Prince version.

That's the truth! haha I mean, it's way better than some other shit out there. It's gritty, but it doesn't have a ton of tape hiss on it or anything. But it's almost not from a first generation source either.

It was interesting the description in the Purple Rain script as fast, high spirited funk tune

Always made me wonder if there is a faster version of G Spot

.

.

.

The CLUB erupts in CRIES! Prince hits
the stage, launches into "G-spot," a
fast, high-spirited funk tune that gets
the crowd hopping. Vanity watches as
Prince whips the crowd into a frenzy.

F is 4 frustration
I'm looking 4 what isn't really there
I is instigation
I'm listening 2 the voice beneath my hair
N is 4 the naked body
And 4 what my naked eye can see

G-spot, G-spot
Where, oh where can U be?

A is 4 America
And 4 the things U read in magazines
L is 4 location
I am a clock, the time is 9:15
L is 4 the lust we share
We want 2 know the infamous pleasure

Y is 4 my yearnin'
Burnin' into mystery

G-spot, G-spot
Where, oh where can U be?

Morris listens with a complacent grin on
his face, his eyes searching out various
members of The Time who are scattered
through-out the club. When he connects
with one of them he makes a series of
absurd faces which sends them into
hysterics. For Prince is playing music
that The Time is noted for, and, as far
as Morris is concerned, performs better.
Not everyone in the club is dancing, or
paying attention, and this does not
escape his notice.

Suddenly "G-Spot" comes to a rousing
end. The CROWD cheers wildly. Prince
moves quickly to the piano and launches
into "Electric Intercourse,"

This song rules. I love the timing he used on the vocal delivery where each new line steps on the previous one just a little bit.

It def feels like it has a place there. But, given the time frame it came out, maybe it'll end up on Parade or Lovesexy deluxe.

I still wanna hear him sing "Nasty Girl."

It was in the damn script tho! They missed an opportunity there. Shameful. Same with Mia Bocca which was also from the PR sessions.

Originals botched it all. Estate was/is clearly holding material for a set / concept that they clearly don't even know if they will / probably won't continue because of mild-to-low sales.

Even on the org it's like "Heyyy maybe it's being saved for Originals! Err,,, uhh, they doin'.... more... Originals.... maybe?"

originals? more like WOW what terrible execution of an idea, go back to the drawing board and pretend you didn't release the first one. do them with non-phony mixes over again on a set that they belong on rather than a grab bag 10 year spanning tidal xxxclusive

So it appears that “G-Spot” was replaced by “Computer Blue” in the movie. However,in this scene, the crowd is really enjoying the song/performance while the “Computer Blue” sequence is supposed to be the Kid doing some “weird shit that nobody wants to hear”,lol.

The script is somewhat inconsistent in the crowd's reaction. Sure, they cheer wildly at the end, but note the bolded section. Like, we're supposed to notice, with Morris, that people are uninterested, but then they cheer?

I had same thought too when saw script!! Is there a more upbeat version?

I bet there is a faster version hence no release yet...

My bet is faster version is older version.
