God, must we? Every...fucking...time?

I mean, who wants to talk about Prince appearing with the Muppets, playing songs and being funny when we can get into the far more serious and important business of arguing sematics?

Cause that's really fun.

Without Bart the .org would be dull, and full of half facts.

I'm glad he's around.

I like his style too - best of not feeling addressed.

-

Another thing, It is not very nice and sensible to mistake someone for being gay, leading to a so-called boyfriend.

Or you know more than we do ?

By the way, no gay bashing here, or you have to deal with me. smile))

I'm a hundred procent gay, mean, wild, incalculable, strong as hell and fiercely dangerous, and i bite and scratch !

smile)))))))

Peace though to you RJOrion, and all the rest too of course.

If you want to understand the nature of something, to find out the truth, that is one thing. If you want to play semantics, make up wild thought 'experiments', that is another thing. I am not so interested in the latter, though I do appreciate that it can be fun, however unproductive. Never? The Muppet Show (TV Series 1976–1981) - IMDb

Oh, Bart. I know you will split hairs on this, but here goes …

While there was never a show called "the Muppets Show," there was one called "The Muppet Show."

.

Since when is that the same thing? Is "Pronce" the same as "Prince"?

.

No, Prince wasn't on that show - which aired from 1976-1981. But both "The Muppet Show" and "Muppets Tonight" were known as the Muppet Show in common parlance in the United States because "The Muppet Show" came first.

.

So? It still isn't the name of the show.

It's not the offical name, but it is the name to which it is commonly refered. In language, that's okay. The point of communication to convey an idea -- as long as people understand the idea you're conveying, then you've succeeded (whether you use an offical designation or colloquial one). Language is the ultimate democracy -- there is no authority who can dicate the right or wrong word. The definition, spelling, connotation of words are whatever most people say they are.

It was fun.

He was fun.

It seems that he did had fun.

He come over really loose and light.

And his southern accent was just spot on (to me).

The Raspberry Sorbet thing was cool too, he kinda knows how to be funny while acting. wink

It's much better than his serious acting (to me).

Always very much liked the funny Prince.

He had such a good snese of humor (too).

dodger

I remember at the time being pleasantly surprised how well he came across.
It was funny to see him taking the piss out of himself with the name change and assless pants.

He came off human without pretense. I also loved the New Girl episode for being so game, but he was playing up the persona.

Also..."It's time to meet the Muppets on the Muppet Show tonight". It's iconic and became the name of anything Muppet forever.

We could also argue that Prince was never on The Muppet Show because he wasn't Prince, he was prince
If you take any of this seriously, you're a bigger fool than I am.

Also, if they just added a " ' " to "Muppets" in the threadtitle, it would also be correct.

like "...the Muppets' show"

It was a show that belonged to the Muppets geek
