depending on who is providing the commentaries, this could be really good.

doesnt look like there will be much writing from toure either, it will just be commentaries, which is good.

You lost me at Touré.

He's too self-involved to accurately discuss another person.

If this is another Touré book on Touré, thinly veiled as a Prince book, then I´ll pass.

Even if this is really about Prince, I doubt that Touré has any info on anything that we don´t know already.

I don´t think I´ll ever buy a book by Touré, or Neal Karlen, unless it´s second hand and very cheap.

Oral histories are hard to get right and easy to get away with doing badly. If it's done well it'll be great but, well, we'll see.

It's only 288 pages long, yet it claims to "paint the most complete picture yet written" of Prince. Not a good sign, if you ask me.

Toure's other book started well, but sorta lost its way in the last 1/3 with just rambling about Baby Boomers vs. Gen Xers, society, etc. He made good points about those generations, etc., but the last part of the book had zip to do with Prince or how he became an icon.

This is due out later in June. I'm sure Duane Tudahl's new book will overshadow this by far on June 7!

I'm leery of buying any more Prince books except for Duane's. His books are essential.

Yes but 1 Toure page = 3 normal pages by anyone else. Plus I would die 4 u was only 150 pages long and a small chap book sized volume.

This is twice that length and no doubt will be more lugubrious. Plus who are these associates and friends, how many are positive and not disgruntled like half the people in Possessed were. Are these band members or someone who once handled a runner at a concert in 2003, or some gossiping "publicist" like the main authors and contributors in the MJ books.

The last book was pretenious nonsense about generations and his sexual preferences (2 girls at once and watching). It was down there with the worst like Thief in the Temple by Brian Morton and Purple Reign by Mick Wall (The cash in biographies are the worst).

This is a book that needs someone to audition, before I show interest and I have been cagey about not buying things in the past and then buying them later on (Heck I even bought Toure eventually and Randee photo book - which was a good buy).

Have you checked out my book Purple Bananas? It's a memoir about growing up in an abusive household and using Prince's music as way to survive. The Org features prominently in the plot.

Everybody talks all this shit about another book and milking Prince and it ain't stopping nothin.

If you're not interested, simply don't buy it. There will be more things to come out because Prince is a fascinating person.
