When I first heard his song International Lover. I think it was either on the radio, or hearing it being played loudly from our neighborhood bar. I remember loving the song, and his voice, even though I didn't know who he was at the time, and didn't know what he looked like, then when I finally saw him, I fell in love with him too. I thought Prince was the most handsome and sexiest guy ever!

Hearing 'Letitgo' constantly on Long Wave Radio Atlantic 252 in the Summer of '94. Bought the CD single and then a few months later listened to The Hits 1 by which point he was in the UK on The Ultimate Live Experience tour and was all over UK TV and press. At this time I saw The Beautiful Experience and heard 'Days Of Wild' ...I was hooked!

Which might be why they said they changed, rather than Prince, but hard to guess.

Yeah it's interesting though in retrospect that his masculinity was always present, because he was damn near Sylvester out there, bordering on Rocky Horror style drag, but nobody halfway hip had trouble differentiating. It's something that fascinates me. The more he played with gender, the clearer his sexuality was.

I can't pinpoint a specific moment however, I had many moments where he literallyu took my breath away. Some are his performance of "Head" in Detroit in 1986, "Purple Rain" in Syracuse in 1985, his guitar solo during "I Wish You Heaven" in 1988 in Dortmund, discovering how much material he had in his vault and how a vast majority of that material could have been released on albums because it was that good, the piano medley in Dortmund, I could go on and on. One thing that keeps bringing me back, especially now, is how high of a quality his music was upheld to even in his later years.

Seeing the video for Cream on TV did it for me. The singing, dancing and overall catchiness of that song.

I had known Prince since LRC, but never gone beyond kind of liking songs on the radio, by late 91 a lot of the music I loved was played out, Color Me Badd, Vanilla Ice etc.

It was time for something new and I realised here was a talented artist, with funky music who sang and played everything and could still write funky and catchy songs after a decade. Plus I will admit being 15, the sex quotient of that funky song really caught me.

I bought the cassingle and never looked back!
