Hot Thing and Forever in My Life i thought at first this was a reach but after a little research i’m starting to wonder... the drum pattern Prince uses is virtually the same on both tracks, the only difference being the hits in Hot Thing being on the a-(rest)-e-& and the hits on Forever in My Life being on the &-4-&. we know Prince reused drum patterns on songs that were connected in some way (Housequake and Shockadelica, for example). Hot Thing was recorded on August 6, 1987 and Forever in My Life was recorded on August 7, 1986. they are sequenced back to back on Sign “☮️“ the Times, as well. one song is about wanting to take a “sweet, sticky thang” home and “read poetry” and the other is about finally wanting to settle down and be in love forever. so, i guess i’m thinking these two songs detail a story about Prince falling in love with someone he just wanted to do. so, am i reading too deep into this (probably), or do you think there is actually a case for these two tracks being parts 1 and 2 of a love affair? | |

He did sequence songs to tell a story or be funny... When 2 R in Love precedes Bob George (on the cassette or CD). My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid
