I do believe "Yo Mister" or something like "Allegiance" would be great on a vol. 2 of Originals. Also, "All Day, All Night" or "Mia Bocca." Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Bot of his songs for Patti Labelle are great. I know people never mention the song and so probably don't like it too much, but "Love 89" is an absolute monster tune. The Prince version of it got me all wet back when it was out on BFTP. That guitar, those screams. That ENGERGY. WOWOWOWOW.

I don´t know what it is about those two songs (Allegiance and Get Blue) but I find both of them incredibly catchy and often catch myself singing the lyrics while making breakfast ever since I first heard them in the early 90s. As skeptical as I am regarding a D&P release because some of the early configurations looked as if he didn´t have enough strong songs, it´s songs like these that make me wonder how many great early 90s songs are in the vault that I haven´t heard yet. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

When I read this I could almost hear P singing "Halls of Desire" I imagine it to be fantastic and could be a single with chart potential! he might have better luck if he was drummin with his Dick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love his version of Yo Mister. At first I thought he was singing in a Patti like style but the dates don’t really tie in. . PVault states it was recorded a few days after the Camille album and you can hear that a bit. . Similarly when I heard his version of Come Home; I wondered if he was singing in a Mavis like style but it’s also unproven/unknown

That´s a great list. I love those songs, especially Prince´s version of 101. For some reason it sounds a little bit like Bronski Beat, and while I couldn´t name one Bronski Beat song that I like, I absolutely LOVE Prince´s version of 101. I like how that line "My girlfriends bore me ..." was meant as a line for Sheena singing about her pain of missing her lover and that her girlfriends can´t really help her with her pain and just bore her, but when Prince sings it it has a strong polygamous vibe to it, which of course wasn´t the intention but takes the lyrics to a whole different level, as in Prince the player with several girlfriends who has such a deep yearning for that one girl he can´t wait to see again while his other girls just bore him. I really like that song and that line in particular. It´s a line I can relate to . " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

It was cut on November 11, 1986, right in the middle of the Sign o the Times album's creation. He puts WAY more intensity into the vocals here than in guide tracks such as many of those on "Originals." And he's got the Camille vocals on it, right?
This leads me to believe it was intended for SOTT or CB or Camille in some form or fashion. I could easily see it taking the place of Strange Relationship on the final album. To my knowledge he never used the Camille vocals on any guide tracks.
Maybe his most exhilarating scream ever.

The song is basically the blueprint for Anna Stesia. It's ok. I think it loses steam a bit after a while and the lyrics are a bit cringe.

I love P’s version of this song. I also hope it’s on the next Originals. Leave it to P to write this catchy pop song set to such dark, depressing lyrics. I don’t remember this song being a hit for Patti, but I do remember the video being played on rotation in NY at the time, on a free video channel. I always loved it. (KoolEaze: i never made the connection to ‘101’ sounding like Bronski Beat but now that you mention it, it really does.)

I like his stuttering in his version better than in Pattis.

Is there meant to be an Originals 2?

- Oh please, no ''Originals 2'' for me. :-/ I prefer the release of his unrelease latest project/album. Or the ''Piano & Microphone'' concert(s). - Oh well, if it shall be ''Origninals 2'', i'll be happy anyway. *message to myself; stop moaning. - "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. And wiser people so full of doubts" (Bertrand Russell 1872-1972)

I see. I know there was a tease from Michael Howe (I think) but as long as it has a better cover image. I'm not exactly a fan of the one used the 1st time. It looks like it was stitched together in Microsoft Paint. I would still get it anyway. Having said that, I would prefer to hear anything that was completed before he died instead of an Originals 2.

I never had that feeling with Sheena´s version but as soon as I heard Prince´s version that was the first comparison that popped up in my mind. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"
