Exactly. And Prince talked about 'time capsule' albums he'd made that could later be released. For example, The Beautiful Strange album from 98, among many others.

Blondies1973 said: I’m new to the forum, and probably ignorant of lots of things. But isn’t there a risk of getting ahead of ourselves here? 1999 and SOTT are in most charts of 20th century all time great albums (as is PR). That just isn’t the case for other Prince albums however much we love them. Not even Parade is in that league. So, can we be sure it makes conmercial sense to invest in SDE’s for any or several other albums? I love D&P, it was the first Prince album I bought, and probably ranks among my 10 favourites (Parade is definitely there). So I do hope the more optimistic takes on here turn out to be correct, but perhaps they aren’t? Dirty Mind is in the Rolling Stones 500 list ( among others) too.

. So where's the Estate/WB touting a list of this stuff to make us interested? I.e: if this stuff existed they did not know how to handle it. That is the unprofessionalism exposed. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Yes this is absolutely 100 percent true

. There wasn't anything concrete. So let's look at the insinuations. He mentioned "at least one more deep dive super deluxe", so there might not be more of those after that. To me that's very disappointing. All albums should have a deep dive super deluxe, either with Sony or WB. . Also... when asked about his favourite Prince track, he mentioned it changes on a day to day basis, but then mentioned Sometimes It Snows In April. Since he doesn't have one track that's especially relevant to him he picked something top of mind, probably something he's been working on. To me, it is yet another indication that the next SDE is most likely Parade. . As to what the other release of the year might be... no indications. There's no plan though for anything more . I wish they would start "general releases" and "superfan only" releases already. If only so they can then make some decisions based on artistic merit, not thinking about the marketability and put all the packaging and marketing effort into the "commercial" release of the year. Add a subscription model for the fan stuff and you add another, predictable revenue stream. It's probably also the only way they'd start releasing stuff not from the 80s. . If they were after the money they'd have done this by now. But they do not aim for profit maximization. Not at all. That is unprofessionalism exposed. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

I reckon it would be great if there was a box set of 3121 Antello road and 77 Beverly Park Lane live recordings at Prince’s house. Some of those performances with Ceelo Green, Larry Graham, Stevie Wonder make me very curious.

i think they pressed too many copies of the SOTT sets so they are prob figuring out how to do it next time

Here's a thought. If Warners still owns the soundtrack albums, that makes it 4 more albums they control. So wouldn't we likely see 4 more super deluxes from them over the next 4 years? Something like:
2021: Parade (35th Anniversary) 2022: Graffiti Bridge 2023: Batman 2024: Purple Rain (40th Anniversary)
Sorry if this exact question has been brought up (I just couldn't find it). But I have a feeling they were *extremely* calculating in terms of releasing 1999 and SOTT when they did, knowing that they still had several more years of momentum to build up to PR in 2024.

Duane seems to be hinting about a release coming soon on his Face Book page.
"Something Funky This house Comes"
Then a picture of what looks like a studio Record but only showing Prince and the first part of a song title "House".
Nothing more.

Checked the publisher site for Duane’s book, appears to be June release but think best to await the official announcement. https://rowman.com/ISBN/9...5-and-1986 There may or may not be something coming!
