if the estate do a live box set, they HAVE to do one of all the first ave shows

listening to this 1982 show at first ave with morris day and sue ann carwell, its got so much atmosphere, funkiness, and looseness, i cant believe ive never heard it before. its not like these versions are necessarily the best, but the show as a whole captures a side of prince ive not really heard very much before (if youve heard all the aftershows or rehearsals, you might have, idk).

but a set of all the first avenue shows would be both perfect, seeing as the club is so linked to prince, and incredible.

no, but you can pay 60 dollars a pop for a set of each show individually released over the span of 20 years

Great idea. Those are all great gigs.

Hope they include that 7th Street Entry little mess around gig too

Have it on bootleg somewhere. Some nice guitar work on that.

I love the idea of a live box set.

YES!!! In some topics I also posted about how they should do a complete First Avenue boxset with video and audio for all the shows and one-off appearances like that Girls and Boys/Holly Rock jam with Sheila E. thumbs up!

Idk why the time perform two of their weaker songs here.
Missed opportunity
Still, the adlibs and banter between prince and Morris are fun/tense

This one has always been one of my favorites. And that's a lot to say, because 99.9% of those 80s (offnight shows) were the bomb

I wish he did more of these in the 82 82 84 85 86 period.

This one needs to be released on DVD/CD, booklette/picture book etc there are a lot of photos from this event.

I mean there's tons of potential for interesting series around his tours.

A series of aftershows would be cool. Or packaging the aftershows with the main shows. Or even a full on blown out spectacular set of rehearsal/soundcheck/main show/aftershow. The 87 first avenue show could fit as a rehearsal since he declares it as such.
