Hey Prince fans!

First off, excuse my language, im not a native english speaker.

Ive been searching for a particular version of purple rain on and off for more than 10 years. I come back every now and then trying to find it, but i never do. Now im back at it again, and this time im reaching out to you guys!

The clip is something i watched on youtube in maybe 2005-2007, but suddenly it disappeared. Not sure when.

To my memory, the solo is what makes this version stand out and makes it easy to distinguish from other versions. Somewhere in the middle of it prince does something i have not seen him do in any other version of the song. He takes it down to being something of a guitar-only-jam (without any other instruments playing). Then he starts playing this rythm-oriented solo where he lays down licks in between muted strumming. Very funky.

Im uncertain where or when this was recorded but my vague memory leads me to Madrid or Tokyo. Could be totally wrong here. I also believe the song in total was around or over 10 minutes long, and shot post 1990. Could be wrong here aswell.

The rio 91 is kind of simular, and i think its about at that time in the song he starts doing this thing i was trying to explain in my last post, and will try to explain better in this one. Rio 91 is definataly the closest thing ive seen to the video im looking for. Im also PRETTY (not 100%) sure its that same guitar he used on the one im searching for. Also i feel he was wearing white clothing. The style in which he plays during this ”break” in the song is somewhat similar to how John mayer plays around the 30 second mark in this video im linking below(although Prince does it a million times tastier). So fucking tight it still blows my mind just thinking about it. Its this ”guitar acts like a drum” thing, with the muted strumming. He does this while playing some blues oriented licks over it, keeping the beat going all along, you get what i mean?

Its this muted kind of rythm playing going on for quite some time, maybe 30sec-1min, gradually intensifying. I feel the video was shot in a major city, and in the earls 90s, but its been so long since i saw it (i was maybe 16 at the time, im now 30), and so many other purple rain versions ive heard by now, that im not certain about anything other than this portion of the song where he plays like i try to describe. Right now i cant find any better words to describe the playing than what i wrote above.

One more thing is i feel the video was pretty well shot quality wise, could be several camera angles and a pretty large scene. Also not 100% on this but thats how i remember it. Good sound quality too.

At the time i was kind of obsessed with the song and the guitar playing especially, and this was the best take of the song i ever heard and it has grown kind of mythical to me over the years.
