Something has bugged me for years with "Eye Hate U" Ok, so apparently this was a song aimed straight at Carmen Electra. However, during the Gold release he was in a serious relationship with Mayte, didn't she bother that he was singing in detail about a ex-girlfriend? And in 1995 he did that AMA performance with the medley and this song was included, probably rehearsed with all the dancers alot. And one of the dancers was Carmen Electra!! Didn't she know the lyrical context of the song and why on earth would she just go along and perform with that in mind?

Ohh come on, this is Prince we're talking about. You are always a newbie in specific area of his catalogue. Mine happened to be Gold Experience and Graffiti Bridge. I rarely listen to those albums. Right now I'm deep into his 1989-1990 era (excluding GB)

So you're asking if Mayte gave a shit that Prince was singing about an ex? Gosh, I hope other musicians don't do that! The tragedy! Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

We'll never truly know what conversations did, or didn't go on between Prince and Mayte, unless she specifically asked him not to play it then I guess it was fair game for P.
I think once he'd written a song and it had become part of his ouvre, then I guess he dissassociated it from himself and it became just a song to perform.
This is only my thoughts on the subject of course.

I don't know if he was being cruel or honestly couldn't get enough from women and sex. Me personally find it extremely sexy, a high libido. But some might have took it personal.

Mate basically said she was thankful for the experience amd looked over a lot of shit he was doing in her book. I recommend reading her autobiography Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

One could spend several lifetimes trying to understand Prince and his many, many, many, many over-lapping relationships. I don't recommend it. [Edited 1/2/21 12:15pm]

Wait, you find that extremely sexy....why? Don't know. Harem, hedonism. I love that period 1991-1992 Act I Tour. Skin, women, just sexy. And he was looking really good, sporting that short hair and the Ray Ban Locs. The Sexy M.F. performance, I just love that shit. Over confident Prince could be lame, but when it worked, it just spoke to me. Not too sleazy like some rockstars, just sexy.

I get what you're saying, and I agree, when over confident and over done, Prince could be lame at times, but no doubt the guy was as sexy as they come.
