Welcome 2 America a return to Mpls sound or a buget cut On W2A Prince didn't have a horn section.Maceo was a guest a few time but horns were replaced by synths.Musicology with synths sounds soo good ,like a song by The Time.Also lots of synth horn stabs in tbe mix.Do you think that hornless band was because of paying less musicians or desire to revisit the old synth sound live? | |

A desire to revist the old synth sound as he did on the 20TEN album, just the year before. Also, the unreleased Welcome 2 America album was produced by Morris Hayes, so is likely synth-heavy. It's a little strange that the album a world tour (USA/Canada/Europe/Australia)was titled after was never released. It's also interesting that he handed the production duties over totally to Hayes in 2011 for an album project, as he later did with Josh in 2015. | |

- Well... that means he wasn't that satisfied. Consideering the Josh production that was sooooo substandard ( or even for even a Prince protégée project), says it all. imho and likes of course - i could be deadwrong though. Just saying. -
