Jerk Out -Chocolate (1984) Prince & the Revolution

How do we petition the Estate to release soundchecks and studio rehearsal??

Because what I'm hearing, everyone needs to hear!!

Well, if we were more unified as fans, we could potentially crowd fund something, but I don't think we'd ever all agree on what we desired or what time period. Hence, projects will always need to be presented to us. The Estate of course, could present fans with a poll for possible premium vault projects, but currently, don't appear to want to even communicate with the hardcore fanbase that is the only audience for about 60-70% of the vault's total contents.

Oh please. You lot vastly overestimate the number of fans and vastly underestimate the kind of amounts you'd need to get the estate to listen to you. One million dollars would require a thousand fans to pony up a thousand dollars each. Now go look at the view figures of the threads on this forum or look at the membership number of Facebook groups and then realise than only a fraction of those tiny numbers would be willing to invest anything and then even a fraction of that fraction would be willing to invest a thousand dollars. The Estate releases a $150 box set and a whole bunch of people lost their mind at the mere mention of that price.

One million dollar won't be enough to digitize/document everything that's in the vault, believe me. Those archiving projects are really, really expensive.

That's the other part of the equation. But to digitize, document, and store everything in a professional and sustainable manner, you will need at least 15-20 million dollars. Easily.

.

So, based on 1'000 hardcore fans, we're talking about $15'000-$20'000 per fan here. That's about 100 SOTT SDE box sets per fan. wink

I appreciate your points and even partially agree, but it only really takes a few wealthy investors to make a project at least feasible or worth discussing.

If those existed, they'd have acted long ago. In reality Prince's businesses were virtually non-existing bu his death, and the initial deal the estate struck with Universal was for a paltry amount, and that deal was cancelled soon after.

"Chocolate" SHOULD HAVE BEEN on the "Ice Cream Castle" Album!! And "Chili Sauce" would have fared better as a Single B-Side!!!

Yes, the title would have worked well with Ice Cream...

It was intended. This is an example of a bad decision by Prince. Firing Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, coming up to a very important career move of his life, Purple Rain.

If he did not do that(he still denied it in 1990) then I think ICC would have had Chocolate and some strong songs.

I still would love an instrumental version of Chili Sauce, the music is actually captivating.

That song is fan-tas-tic !

I looooove ''Chilly Sauce'' and for me it fits in nicely on the album.

Instead, they could've added ''Chocolate'' as the last track on that album.

There was enough space for that. smile

...and the music on ITKCMYC is on a higher level. One of the best arranged songs I've ever heard. Not a dead beat. And yes, I am unfortunately talking about the BFTP 6.0 version. That should have made the cut, not the edited version.
