I did discuss this topic in various guitar related topics but still...What do you think of Prince on guitar during the New Power Soul Rave era?

The reason i ask is because i think that was the only time

when Prince didn't deliver on guitar.

What attracted me to Prince music in the first place when i was a kid was his guitar

playing ,

and i think he played always great,except starting from maybe mid 1998 when Prince

changed his guitar sound from beautiful creamy mid tones to some plastic weird sound

,and his playing changed for the worse.

Prince always had perfect timing ,rhythm when he played,no matter if he

played rhythm or lead guitar

perfect timing was there.But not in the New Power Soul Rave era.

During that time his rhythm playing was not perfect ,it was kind

of off .I have doubts that maybe Prince played far less guitar than usual even though he did

a lot of guitar centered songs live.

I have heard every recording thats out there and he never played good as before or after that era.

Some people like to mention Motherless Child Septimo 1999

but in my opinion it's weak to his standard.Others say Purple Rain Rave

concert but for me thats the weakest version ever,Los Angeles Musicology version slays Rave 2000 concert version.

Prince ruined Jungle Love guitar solo when he play with The Time

Las Vegas 1998 or 1999 .you have audio circulating.He didn't know what he was doing on guitar.maybe his worst solo ever.

His versions of Jungle Love from 2007 were amazing and he played

much better solos than Jesse ever did on Jungle Love in my opinion but on Jungle Love live

Las Vegas with The Time he is an amateur on guitar.

The only time i actually heard him play great is one version

of Santana Medley,its from 1998 but i don't know which concert,but on that

version before Prince

played solo he gave guitar solo to Mike Scott and Mike killed it on guitar,played amazing stuff so my guess is Prince

was in competitive mode and he really did a great guitar solo.But i doubt Prince of 1998 could play Shhh or Interactive.

He did recover in 2000,on Hit'n'Run 2000/2001 Prince played again

great solo and rhythm guitar,he started using his trademark Hohner again

and his overall sound again became nice and creamy .
