He obv reached out to her in the hope of getting her into his bed obv.
Most guys would ask a woman out for a drink
Prince would ask a woman to be in his video.

He asked Salma to direct the video, "Te Amo Corazon". He respected her talent as well as her beauty.

Personally, I have thought the lyrics to "The Dance" released in 2004 on Chocolate Invasion and again in 2006, 3121 (more aggressive lyrics), were about her.

(Of course, I don't know)

Let's not forget about the song "Valentina" which was supposedly about her and her daughter

Funny that she included Valentina on the playlist. I wasn't sure if she liked that song. https://www.instagram.com...ih87vAsrG/

The Dance is about Manuela.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

The Dance is about Manuela.

I doubt it. The song is about unrequited love. Manuela easily 'committed' to him in 1998 and did not seem to elicit the type of longing present in this song.

This is about someone he could not get out of his mind, he makes it sound as though she is unattainable which is why I think it is about a higher status woman.

He was finished with Manuela in 2004 when the song was first released, likely before. There was 'trouble in paradise' in 2003.

Wrong. The song was released for the first time in 2004 - but was likely written and recorded before that. The fact that he re-recorded it and included it on 3121 - which essentially chronicles his break-up from Manuela - tells the entire tale. Listen to Love, Fury, and The Dance together. It's obvious.

Who knows? lol But that seems typical Prince, if he was attracted to a woman (and God knows he was, to many lol )he'd find some way to get her into his orbit.

? I thought the oldest version we had was from the early 90s.
Cant remember on which bootleg it was but I think it was long before Manuela was around.

According to Princevault, Version 1 may have been recorded anytime between 1999 and 2004. Prince and Mani met in (I think) 1997. Isn't she in the Come On video?

I like the music but no question the lyrics are bizarre. Unless it was some kind of inside joke between him and Salma

She could have been around longer because I think she was Mayte's assistant at one point or something. I'm not sure when I got the older version of The Dance but I think it was before 1999, I could be wrong tho.

The re-recording for 3121 had additional lyrics/ad libs incl a line 'all that pretty hair.' I recall that caused speculation it was about Manuela
