It's highly unlikely. Look at when he first started performing there. Folks from MPLS have said multiple times, before he started getting bigger and appealing to white america, he didn't play there and no way in hell would they have let him. Idk why this is a shock to so many people or why folks like to act as if or pretend like racism isn't a real thing or forget that Prince is black or that he had hardships he had to go through as well. That's why when he died it was hilarious that everybody flocked there more so than paisley. He wasn't born and raised in first avenue. That's just what white america thinks of him.
The Time played there in what 1982 for the first time? and that's ONLY because they were associated with him.
So i'm not gonna bother reading or replying to anything else cause this site has become a cesspool for folks that don't understand blackness or just choose to ignore it. and before you ask, yes it matters.

Cant speak for anyone else but I'm def not acting like racism doesnt exist... it's just that my knowledge of mpls is limited and this club to me = prince. For many ppl it does and its understandable cos of the PR film. Cant lie, until recently, and the book by swensson and those compilations of pre prince black music from the twin cities,my knowledge of black music in mpls was limited.

I'd say 90% of ppl, black or white, that know prince would first think purple rain... and if they know that, they know the film... if they know the film, they know the club.... [Edited 11/19/20 7:20am]
