It all depends whose version you favour. Sinead O'Connor's worldwide hit is the one that everybody on the face of the planet is very familiar with (although this doesn't necessarily mean it's the best version there is). Apart from that, you will find 'Nothing Compares 2 U' in at least four different incarnations: 1. As part of 'The Family' album.It was never released as a single. 2. There is an unreleased, more conventional sounding demo, again the vocals are by St. Paul. 3. There are several rehearsal versions of 'Nothing Compares 2 U' doing the rounds amongst collectors, again with St. Paul on lead vocal. 4. Last, but not least, Prince's live version of this track was released on 'The Hits' retrospective by Warners. In addition, Prince has played this song live on many occasions. . "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. Go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person." | |

A word of warning, though: 'The Family' on CD is a pretty expensive package. I saw a Japanese version advertised last week and it was selling for a ridiculous £195.00, which is daylight robbery.
