I don't know I'm still perplexed by what this woman said. I can't tell if she's speaking the truth or is just generally condescending towards religious people and feels all Christians are pentecostal therefore hold young earth Bible belt beliefs. Ok, she was around him during the pre-JW years but I don't remember any associate talking about going to church with him or attending even an Easter service. Nor have I ever heard P call himself a born-again Christian, that's a very specific state of being. And JWs kind of frown on what they call Christiandom ways so words like, born-again Christian, isn't in their vernacular and they don't have Easter services. So was she being condescending showing a black man an ape like being, passing all the dinosaurs and Neanderthals and whatever to talk about how he's related to that? His meteor remark just seems obvious to me that she's completely oblivious in how to talk to those outside of all her superior "labelings".

Maybe P didn't believe there was such a thing as meteors and meteroites. That's a new one to me coming out of religious teachings.

This woman is selling writing about what P beliefs were. Nothing she's said shows she had a clue what his specific beliefs were. Morality is as morality does, not what label one slaps on their forehead.

Seems like everything she's said offers clues to what his beliefs were at that time. It's not abot morality, it's about science vs religion.

I mean he did mention chemtrails in a publicized interview. He liked to go into the emotion based beliefs.

Oh, that Prince. Who knows if he believed the same thing the following day? He was basically 5 people with contradictory beliefs and attitudes in one person.

It's interesting hearing these stories that demonstrate an early religious extremism in him, then hear him on those taped interviews with Neal Karlan from around the same time saying basically, if God/heaven isn't real, then who cares, at least he lived for something.

I think Sheila E mentioned in an interview that there were times when he lost his belief too... Did he believe in evolution and meteors on those days?

I have to wonder if he was joking about the "next you'll be telling me that came out of the sky!" comment. Seems like a joke to me, though who knows.

Knowing P is a master prankster, I think she was too busy smelling her own essence to realize what happened. Maybe she's still mad. Who knows? I doubt he let her into his head like that. That just doesn't sound right. But I guess she needs the coin. It won't be mine, I know that.

All of them. The Old Testament (Jews, Christians, JWs, Islam) is overflowing with it. Animal Sacrifice is to the Old Testament what Kung Fu is to Bruce Lee movies. It’s wacked out madness beyond belief. But for a Vegan who wrote Animal Kingdom?

But it’s not just the olde stuff. Even Jesus wouldn’t help you without asking you to pay a voodoo toll of vicious animal sacrifice. Here is Mark Chapter 1.

You don't understand scripture despite quoting it.

The ransom of God's son was the perfect sacrifice and eliminated the need for animal sacrifice. A new covenant was made for all of mankind. Same as circumcision and the nation of Israel. It became spiritual circumcision and a spiritual Israel in the new testament.

So please, go back to /r/atheism

Or go to jw.org and search "animal sacrifice" before you claim to know what they represent.

I don’t understand scripture? If you’re a JW, isn’t it your absolute position that 99.7% of believers don’t understand scripture? Only you do?

So no point in directing me to an atheism site, is there. Even if I was a Christian (god help us), I’d consider your beliefs off the charts.

I see you haven’t defended God and Jesus’s insistence on blood magic. Even if you’ve tried to squirrel your way out of doing it yourself, do you really want to believe in a God who seems to have a lot of abhorrent things to say, but insists on you killing animals for no reason other than to dab the blood behind your ear?

It may also be unwise to abandon the direct instructions of God himself for the word of an extremist convert. Huge risk, I’d say. But you have at it. Hope you’re one of the 144,000. If your actions in this thread help you to get there, put a word in for me with the big fella.

Religion.

-

For me religion stands for wars, devision, underdevelopment and oppression - us AGAINST the rest.

It's like the worse kind of diarrhea.

Always trying to shove 'alternative facts' unasked up other peopple's asses - and i'm not even kinky!

It keeps people from thinking - from being sane.

But hey, believe what you like - as long as you don't confront me with scriptures and likes,

or fuck me up unasked and stay away from my wallet, you're mostly welcome. biggrin

All my humble opinion of course.

Prince was a fool for that matter I believe.

Poor soul, it killed him too.

The thing is, Prince's openness to emotional split instinctive reasoning is what also led to his great art. If he had been a cold intellect, I dunno what kind of music we would have gotten. Maybe less with more quality? Maybe more boring stuff. Maybe nothing interesting.

He was a master of patterns, creating and weaving patterns and then discarding them. Recognizing and appropriating them, and also inventing them. and I think it was driven by impulsiveness and willingness to dive off a cliff with no caution. That type of spirit can soar, but at the expense of cold logic or wise deliberation.

I take his dabbling in conspiracies and religion as part of the mix that is/was Prince.

Well, if you lock yourself in and work/record/play 20 hours a day, sleep 4 hours, it is quite possible you have no clue of what the outside world is about, right?

And, like, constantly calling people in the middle of the night, is kinda like purple stalking... wink

ANd to mention that he never wanted a 'no' for an answer...

I even wonder if Prince had a real life besides his music.

Alan Leeds said the guy was pretty normal, besides his work ethic.

It also occures to me that all these hundreds of interviews with people from in and around his camp, barely ever have much surprisingly deep to say about conversations with Prince.

As if there were barely deep long big talks amongst them - knowing that they spend hours, days months, years with each other.

-

I liked the story that Lenny Kravitz told in an interview recently with Naomi Campbell.

One day, Prince called him up in the afternoon asking Lenny to be ready in 30 minutes.

They were up to fool around with Michael Jackson in the Sony Studio's where Michael was.

Lenny said they fooled around all afternoon and had lots of fun.

I mean, I would've looooooved to be a fly on a wall to see those three just 'hanging'.

Need to read that memoire of Lenny now. smile

Nice try but I'm Catholic. The point wasn't to convert you, the point was to get you to stop talking out of your ass about the JWs and Prince's beliefs.

Even the 144,000 you are mistaken about. The JWs believe that 144,000 go to heaven to serve in God's Kingdom but that everybody - outside of those destroyed in Armageddon, who get direct judgment at that time - are coming back to Earth for judgment or eternal life.

Trust me, I had to explain that one to Catholic people alot.

Exactly.

How sane can it be to live up to tales written a couple of thousand years ago, and not being able to even question them.

When I was in my early thirties, I read the books out of curiosity, and to be able to try and have an informed say when the topic presented itself.

It only made me even more incredulous.

Creepy (science) fiction though. wink

Best to forget the inhuman and unnatural restrictions that are always enforced,

as well as the hatred and rediculed division of 'believers/unbelievers'.

How petty and at the same time silly that is.

It's only peace and love that matters.

So you’re in the ‘understanding scripture’ sect whose most unique focus is on a mistranslation that Mary was supposed to be a virgin? Congrats.

C’mon. It’s like debating with a child here. You can’t say I’m mistaken by adding details I didn’t cover (nor do they remotely contradict what I said). This is analogous to me saying Prince released Purple Rain and you saying I’m mistaken because I didn’t mention The Chocolate Invasion.

I said the 144,000 would be with the big man and insinuated this would be considered a good group to be in by many JWs. Fact + Fact.

Why the hell are you explaining JWs to Catholics all the time? They are either loons or they’re not. Defending them to other morally dubious groups just because one of them wrote The Arms of Orion seems questionable. Remember, he also believed in chemtrails. His desk drawer of belief systems was an unholy mess.

Creationist is a lie used to sell religion. While religion is used to control people for wealth and power. The idea that Noah's Ark could contain all the animals(twice over) let alone food for the animals is impossible. The Ark they built as life size in the USA could only contain all the worlds insects with no room for any animals or vice versa. It is physically impossible to contain all the worlds creatures in that Ark.

Whether a rock hss always been there is not an answer if one believes the meteor came from the sky. In fact I've never understood the sentence, was he referring to the steady state theory which may have been taught in his early years in school. I don't know. [The Steady State theory was very popular in the 1950s. However, evidence against the theory began to emerge during the early 1960s. ] or I could be over thinking it because he was under the tutelage of the JWs and I don't have a full picture of what they believe as far as cosmology and biology goes.
