It's the track Prince used to hoodwink people into thinking he was going to release loads of Revoltion-era stuff when he lanuched NPG Music Club in 2001
It was one of the first batch of songs to come out. But then most of the studio stuff was from the 2000/2001 era (which I didn't really mind but I'm sure many were disappointed). [Edited 10/14/20 12:20pm]

Didn't Prince also say it was one of his favorite tracks?

Splash is the ringtone for the love of my life. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

So becasue someone said Prince maybe said it was one of his favorite tracks THAT explains why you like it? Because you think you're just like Prince or some other magical nonsense? I'm curious. Why does Prince liking something mean that you'll like it?

Not unreleased but unavailable. Splash is a great track and one of the tracks to be rumored to appear on Roadhouse Garden...which was cancelled after Prince told Wendy and Lisa they should repent of sorts. Splash is a beautiful reghae tinged track reminicent of Crucial and If It'll Make You Happy. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

I wonder how they would approach it, as it's never been physically available, only ever an mp3 (or was it some kind DRM file at that point?), and cannot be legally accessed now?

Classic Prince. In terms of embodying a song title purely in the music, it may even be unmatched in his catalogue.

A favorite of mine since the first time I heard it on that 3121/Planet Earth site! Aside from that it reminds me of a perfume ad soundtrack--a really slinky, sexy one! Imagine if a full album was done along those lines...

Prince liked pussy - not me. Prince liked Jehovah's Witness - you'll never find me in a kingdom hall, evar. Prince liked Tony M's rapping... (we know how this one ends). Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

. Tony seems like a great person. Never liked his Chuck D derivative flow though. Paisley Park is in your heart - Love Is Here!

Not sure if it's been mentioned above, but there is a slightly different alternative mix of the song which is interesting (it has a wierd goat noise near the end) - but I hope the other NPGMC version is released by the estate when the time comes!

One of my absolutel fave songs. So original and sensual...it's in a league of its own. I like either version.

Princevault mentions that overdubs were made in September 1998 but at the same time states that "it is likely that further work was done on the track prior to its eventual release, but recording dates are not known", so I don't understand the contradiction. Neither do I understand whether this means the version Prince released in 2001 was indeed overdubbed in 1998 or if this is the original 1986 version left untouched. I have no idea what Pvauit's source of info was on this. Anyone knows more about it? A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Is it just me or are there record scratches on this near the end?
Cant imagine that was done in 86! Was there ever a bootleg of this prior to the npgmc version? [Edited 11/5/20 1:21am]
