Actually one time I was really high on weed for the very first time... like so high, my vision was wide angle and music sounded live as if I hadn't heard it ever before and didn't know what was comin in the next second. It just clicked in like that for the first time. I started to draw the Lovesexy album as shapes as I was listening to it, flipping through sheets of paper.

(This was before computer music visualizers, lol)

It doesn't make sense on Lovesexy either to me. It sounds like some futuristic soul train midnight rainstorm slowed down jam... so the overt soulfulness could fit with the black album

Lovesexy seems like its built on hyperactiveness, and no discipline to the arrangements to hint at ferver or religious manic energy.

When 2 r In Love is to disciplined and solid to really fit Lovesexy. I wish he had kept "The Line" in the album

the black album is just a pick n mix of different stuff from the time. it doesnt even make sense as an album. sometimes prince did some weird sequencing when making albums. so there are songs for sheilas birthday, but then also just miscellaneous things, from the camille album, etc. its not a good 'album'. but has some good tracks.

WRONG. All the albums have been a mix of different things pulled from different times, from different mindsets when they were recorded. He would however change the arrangements to make them match better at times.

Doesn't change the fact that The Black Album is his strongest most cohesive song sequence out of ALL THE ALBUMS.

I am in the camp that believes TBA to be a top 5 Prince album. It is just Prince (and some like-minded 'musician friends') being funky, entertaining, freaky, manic, over the top and wild. "When 2 R In Love" is a gorgeous song but fits better on Lovesexy IMHO.

Well, I think the 1994 CD pressing was not that great of a transfer/master, it is a dull sounding CD that could benefit from a remaster, just the way SOTT did.
