That's the very reason I'm hesitant to spend $180 on SOTT Deluxe. I don't much care for booklets and such. Just want the music. And I really have nowhere to put them.

I read this in a few hours on the bus, it's hardly a commitment. Formerly TheDigitalGardener etc.

The book is padded with a ton of visuals due to the nature of the book so I found myself finishing the meat and bones of it before I knew I was close to the end.

The Prince pages I enjoyed. The rest of it written by what's his name was filler. I was left horny for those bombshells he said he was going to reveal.

- Read it twice. One fast time, and a second time to even take notes. - I like the pictures a lot. I often take a look again. They look so unreal sometimes, but nevertheless great to get an idea of the guy's young life. Something we've never seen that close before. - "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. I thought the opposite. I found Dan's words on how the project came to be a lot more interesting than Prince going on about his childhood. I would have been more into reading Prince's words about when his career started. Formerly TheDigitalGardener etc.

- Same here. There's also an audio book done by Dan. I recommend it. - "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. And wiser people so full of doubts" (Bertrand Russell 1872-1972)

Through lots of tears I finally finished it within a week. I really thoroughly enjoyed him speak about the differences between North and South Minneapolis. Also talking about how important certain pieces of music to him were like Rufus and Chaka. Also his relationship between him and his father was closer than many would assumed or have gave credit for. Coming from his own words he had a lot on his mind. Also really cool to see how dark Purple Rain was about to be.
Sad to see many of you didnt bother or even give any details into what you thought of the book. [Edited 10/22/20 11:04am] Straight Jacket Funk Affair

Me too; he shows his great sense of humor in his writing. Really, really too bad and sad he didn't get to finish the book. The pictures are great too.

I read it. I got it as a present. I thought it was an obvious cash in. The only interesting part was the few pages of his memoir It was padded out massively. They should have saved all the photos etc for a deluxe set book.

I think the publisher wanted the 2.5 million dollar advance returned. The family/Estate said no and this is the book they came up with...

I haven't finished the book and I've had for nearly a year. I just hadn't got back to reading it but would like to. One thing I have skipped is the part with his hand writing. I can't make out what he's writing. I thought my handwriting was bad. I was happy to get my copy at Half Price Books brand new and paid the price I wanted to pay.

Yes - I couldn’t get into it like I have other P books, but a reminder to pick it up and try again, especially since it’s winter in Minneapolis now! “The only love there is is the love we make.” 💜
