Bass solo in 2 Nigs? It's a guitar solo, played on a bass.

Huh?

.

There's a difference in playing between someone that started on bass or on guitar. Prince was ok with slap style bass (something that he mostly did when he played bass live), for which he seemed to be mostly influenced by Larry Graham (although there's plenty of other, mostly fusion, players he also channels). For finger style playing, he either used a pick or a synth. if you are not a player, it's hard to explain. For instance, Levi Seacer is another example. During the Lovesexy and SOTT shows, he had bass solos, but the way he played, it is basically how a guitar player would play a solo. It just feels wrong to me, coming from the bass.

I used to play bass, but I never really became good at it. (I gave it up because I prefer the visual arts: drawing and painting.) What's your opinion on Sonny T?
If you take any of this seriously, you're a bigger fool than I am.

Idk if it’s been mentioned, but since we know this was recorded right after Bob George, maybe this song is a continuation of that story. He shoots and kills his girlfriend in Bob George, and in Walkin’ In Glory, he wakes up in the morning and realizes the Lord took her off to Heaven. Like hey, maybe I just killed her, but at least now she’s, “walkin’ with the Lord.” An attempt at dark humor? Putting a bow on the dark tale of Bob George?

I had'nt though about it but it makes sense an actually it sounds good just coming up right after Bob George.

Milty2

if there is one track on the entire box set, this might be my favourite. It's just so mentally good and a genius bit of production.
