Large Room with No Light Andrea Swenson said in the podcast that it was written by Wendy and Lisa and gave no credit to Prince, which was an unfortunate omission. I think that part has since been edited out of the podcast. The SOTT SDE book says that it was based on a Wendy and Lisa jam. Prince vault concurs with the SDE book. |

Has not been edited from the podcast. I doubt they did the lyrics. Very likley they did the basic music composition. Inexplicable screw up. Unless you know for sure, just say written by Prince, Wendy and Lisa.

Thanks. I could not find the snippet from the podcast, but it is a shame they did not correct that. "Official" projects should not have these types of omissions. The wrong people are telling his story and/or the people telling his story are getting information from the wrong people. |

4 all the adoration this song has gotten over the years, I'm surprised the org didn't combust at such a good sounding version. Beautiful, irregardless of who wrote it . (Undoubtedly Prince with some help, per usual ) For all time I am with you, you are with me. |

That first line has gotta be one of the best lyrics of all time. It's so shocking and hits you right in the heart!
"Lana drew a picture in school today. One that made her Mother cry. A picture of a woman with a drink in her hands...standing by a child with no eyes."
I mean...DAMN! That's as hard as anything in one of his other masterpieces, Sign O' the Times, the song! |

This is/was my favorite Vault track of all time. And after all these years, after all the waiting... I finally have this amazingly clear pristine version to enjoy.
.
Since I got the SOTT SDE, I've replayed this one track more than any other. Love it!
.
Thank you, Michael Howe and the Estate! |

Calling it one of the best lyrics of all time is wildly overstating it, but it is an interesting, even arresting lyric....
And I'm glad it's drink.... cause it sounded to me like it was a picture of a woman with a dick in her hand..... !!!!!! |

But what does that mean, I don't understadn what he's saying there or in the whole song for that matter. I love these lyrics "Everytime U wake up there's a little motherfucker Talkin' big stuff in your face (Are U happy')" |

It means an alcoholic’s daughter doesn’t want to see her mother drinking, and illustrated that in school with a literal drawing of her home life, as kids often do. It’s pretty straight-forward but unusual in Prince lyrics that it’s a double metaphor. Great lyric - the whole song is wonderful lyrically, probably Prince rising to the challenge of complementing something as wonderful as L & W’s basic tracking before it was fleshed out by the entire band. Now I get it, so the child with no eyes is the girl that is covering her eyes with her hands? sorry but could you make an analysis of the whole song please.

It was so frustrating to have this gem in such poor quality. THANKFULLY it's gotten its official release in all of its pristine, studio glory. "I like to watch." |
