Which version of NC2U is best?

I really love this song and kinda wished prince released this as a side note but that's not what this thread is about.Which version do you all think is best of Nothing compares to you.
My opinion of the versions I know of by Prince and other artists.
Prince's original version-Love it and really amazed it existed
Prince and Rosie gaines version that appears on the hits/b sides-Pretty good but was disappointed when I first bought the hits cd because I expected it to be a studio version
The family's version-I just recently discovered it and I believe that it might be the best version. That saxophone solo is haunting
Sinead o Connor version-Great but kinda overated
Chris Cornell version-Another great version

Which version do you all prefer?

The only version I actually like is the Prince version from the Originals album. Never liked the Sinead O'Connor version. Rosie Gaines voice annoys me so the version with her on it never did anything for me. The Family's version is ok but kind of boring.

Sinead O'Conner version.

I like the cinematic mix a lot as well.

and the original Family version is cool.

The only one I don't really like is Prince & Rosie Gaines, all that oversinging... pipe down!

It's a fake.

What's your definition of fake? It's a version that exists, even if liberties have been taken in its creation.

Sinead o connors. It's a 100 times better than all the others

All the others are quite bad tbh.

Prince was just jealous someone improved his song so could never bring himself to use her arrangement. Instead he came up with awful versions like the one with rosie Gaines.

From the day it was released, NC2U by the Family was one of my all time favourite songs. I couldn't believe he 'gave it away'. My prince fan friends thought so too.

When Steve Fargnoli started managing Sinead, he knew exactly where to go for a smash hit.

I still prefer the Famil album version to all of them. The arrangement is by far the most original.

What difference does that make? It's still the only version of the song I like. Fake or not. It could be a Prince impersonator for all I care.

We already know the 1984 original version is the superior definitive version

IF Prince had released the song himself, it would have been a smash.
I don't think he realized how magnificent it was.

As for Sinead's version: people generally like the version they hear first. It becomes the "real" one for them and others sound like covers. But I didn't care for hers.

Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

this song is good. it's great, sure. i love it as i love many prince songs. but i don't think it would make even the top 150 if i was putting together a personal list. it just doesn't hit me that way.

There are two versions that Prince released. The 90s version, with Rosie, is awful. The only version is the Family version (all other released versions are reconstructions of where Prince was when he wasn't done with the song yet).

.

The only way to improve the song is to take the Family version and remove Paul's vocals and restore the Prince vocals on it. (I still hope that will get done eventually, but I won't hold my breath)

I don't really give a shit about the 'Frankenstein Mix' nonsense, the version on Originals sounds fantastic as it is and I'm glad to have it in my collection.

Same here!
Never liked the intro on the "regular" Prince version.
Works better like that for me.
And I wish I had a soundboard recording of the Diamonds & Pearls Tour live Version (with all the great breaks in between).
And I really liked, that he played a piano solo (instead of the sax solo) on the Nude Tour versions.
Aaaaaand: On the Berlin 2010 show he played a re-defined version that was such a wonderful surprise!
I like Sinead's version, too.
