Foefer's Black Album 'remaster'

Clearly this fella has a talent for playing about with knobs. Hadn't listened to his souped-up Black Album before last night and it was a revelation with a decent set of headphones on. Le Grind especially benefits from his efforts. Excellent work. biggrin

Might as well go head and send that to my inbox lol. His Lovesexy Remaster is the only version I listen to now unless it is on vinyl

"remaster" is generous considering it's not. But if someone can tweak something in a good way, that's good enough for now, for me, until the estate releases it as such.

I remember Foefur's huge mix back in '99 or so. I loved it.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Foefur has quite a keen ear for all the details and I wish he would be involved in official stuff. Michael Howe and friends could use his expertise and knowledge of the Catalog.

He did two megamixes and the most known one is AllMixedUp from around 2002

His version off All My Dreams is still a beauty

his tweakings of the 80's album are my go-to listening experience (apart from 1999 & SOTT of course)

One of my greatest regrets in life is losing my Foefur revamps. I so, so miss them. I had fun rearranging the material into sprawling double albums. If I recall correctly, this was my definitive Black Album era playlist:

  1. Le Grind
  2. Cindy C.
  3. Shockedelica
  4. Dead On It
  5. The Sex of It
  6. When 2 R In Love
  7. Rebirth of the Flesh
  8. Bob George
  9. La La La He He He
  10. Superfunkycalifragisexy
  11. 2 Nigs United 4 West Compton
  12. Rockhard in a Funky Place

It is the only version I listen to, it is great for what it is. Can't wait for a properly remastered TBA though!

RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

What other albums did Foefur "remaster"? Did he do Parade?

Those Foefer remasters were quality, along with some very nice extras too. Unfortunately, I lost all mine following a laptop issue, bit the Black Album remaster is particularly good and done with some sensitivity.

I seem to recall he also did Batman and that was also way punchier.

I downloaded a Foerfer version of When Doves Cry once, and it was so compressed that the audio actually 'pumped'. I will pass, thank you.

Do you still have that version? This does not really sound like his work and I have seen many copies pass as foefur but were reworked in some way. eek.

There was even a guy who sold the mega mix as his own and also a cd version with 2 sec intervals between all 77 tracks.

Foefur (with a 'U'),

remastered several of Prince's albums, and they all are outstanding !

I've just listened to the Foefur 'remaster' of TBA on the basis of this thread and all I can say is "wow".

It brings the album to life, and I've an appreciation of it for the first time. It was one that I never got into before, prior to this.
