Yes, I think I agree with you! Definitely a whimsical way of explaining it, very Prince. They were playing this little game where he is a straight man of sorts so of course she wouldn't look. That's kind of why I am suspicious of the prostitute theory. I bet a prostitute barely looks anyway. But here, it isn't that she wasn't curious but she was definitely being respectful.
