The only time prince was committed to one woman at a time was when he was married and even they didn’t last long lol towards the end of his life he had multiple women too. He sent Susannah home and flew in Sheila and or Jill Jones to France during filming so again...he was definitely slinging dick every which way

word.. he sent her ass home to do chores and draw stick figures with Crayons on the walls, while he got nice in Nice

lol lol but those drawings inspired Crystal Ball don’t forget

The backdrop on the SOTT cover was from a dinner theater production of Guys and Dolls that they borrowed for the shoot. I did not know that! Very cool!

Don't forget the drapes. She was a lovely interior designer.

Yeah, let's listen to the woman who thinks she recorded her second album in a building that hadn't been built yet at that time. The woman who claimed they recorded her debut album in a week, which is technically true if you ignore that Prince had recorded all those songs weeks before Prince even conceived of doing a solo album with her and that all they did in that week was adding her vocals and her percussion to already finished tracks.

Damn. That Donny English boy just got told.

I suspect Sheila is intentionally staying away from the hype for this release because she does not want to rain on anyone's "Parade." She did record a whole album with Prince ("Sheila E.) in 1985 and 1986 when SOTT was recorded, so she probably has some real insight on the making of the the album. Being in the SOTT band and in the studio with Prince creating music witih him and being one of his girlfriends at the time probably makes her the one person left on this earth who is most qualified to talk about the album. She probably saw what people did to her after she had the nerve to say she made the man a lemon cake and decided to sit this one out.

You've actually got the nerve to come on here and start a sentence with "I suspect" and think that means anything to anyone. Christ. This place is rough.

I imagine, based on recent events and statements from others who were in the camp back then, if Sheila cannot be the focus of these podcasts then she may not want to participate.

Girl please. It is very common knowledge that Prince was fucking Sheila for the duration of his relationship with Susannah. Why do you think she got tired of it and left? Because he's writing songs about how much he loves and loves to fuck other women the same time she's alone designing the drapery in the palace on the hill.

Yeah, I like Prince and his music and all but it's cool to know about who he was fucking too, especailly when it gets to be with multiple partners. Yup, that's my life. Regards, LoveGalore.

Ok - as enjoyable as it was, that was the first episode that I've come away from feeling flat. Hide and seek, nerves in the bar at 1st Avenue, a nice touch about the backdrop to the cover, I'll give it that...but Dr Kildare...that's not a cutting room floor story?

*

Eric Leeds is a curiosity. I adore his musicianship and his frankness, but, boy, for a man who seems to have disliked or disagreed with so much of what Prince did or played, he really spends a lot of time coming on productions about Prince. In many ways it is refreshing to hear a person not be completely up the ass of their former employer, but would I continuously put myself infront of a microphone to keep saying so in public? OR, it's great that there's an adult in the room - so to speak. I don't know, this week's show is not giving me the satisfaction of the others, so far. Hopefully, things will return to normal, next week. cool

As far as Eric is concerned, he didn't like Prince's music, didn't agree with a lot of his choices and thought prince made use of him too frequently, and on and on. Interesting then that he had one of the longest collaborations with him (what, 1984-1996? Did he show up after Emancipation?).

he did a few times, I think...I may be mistaken. It's odd...and, and this is simply an opinion, of course, but - given he speaks about how much he did not enjoy most of Prince's music, when given the opportunity to put out an album of his own, Times Squared is as close to beige as a music can get. A superb musician, a man who left an indelible mark on Prince's music, a man who augmented Prince's music beautifully...but a curious fellow, when all's said and done.

i also like to make fun of the #AntiMelvoin crew, even though I am somewhat sympathetic, because so often it devolves into really bitter and nasty personal attacks and I just don't think that's a kind or productive thing to do, in fact I think it undermines any valid point about the posthumous artistic co-opting you had to make in the first place.

Perhaps he was asked and his schedule does not permit him to take part. Perhaps he was asked and he declined to take part. Perhaps the stories he tells fit better into the episode about the tour and so his contributions appear in the next couple of episodes.

Whatever with the adolescent "secretly desire me" shit. Know this. Everytime you spew racist, sexist shit on here, I'll be back to tell you you're out of line. Given that you do this contantly (a thread doesn't go by without this kind of insult from you; you live in this place) then I guess you'll just have to continue to hear from me. Cut it out. Now.

Maybe because the last Sign podcasts were so good, this one seemed to have a little less meat on the bone, but there were some interesting bits here and there. My guess is that Karen Krattinger has an entire book-worth of behind-the-scenes nuggets like the 'Guys & Dolls' backdrop (back when P's album art was intregal part of his art).

*

As for Cat, I always thought his back-up dancers were spare parts (Mayte, D & P, the -- ugh -- Game Boyz, etc), but she actually seemed like she served a purpose, and she obviosuly has loads of great stories. I'd love to hear more from her. That peach mini-dress was designed for Susannah? (Oh brother, where was she going to find the body to fill it out?)

Why is it so difficult to upload an avatar?

Agreed. There is some amazing Trumpet playing all over the outtakes and live.performances. In many ways more varied and more controlled than Eric. He deserves more recognition.
