Very odd Sheila isn’t on these

^ I'm assuming they refused to give her own episode or give her executive producer credit or something.

Maybe it’s some of the negative flack she’s been receiving as of late. "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide."

Or you can go to The Current's website, which has a transciption of the show and a better player (and probably gives them advertising money): https://www.thecurrent.or...-the-music

Great episode. They could have probably edited the first 5 episodes into 3 and present it in chronological order. (seriously did we really need a "Susannah" bottle episode?).
This one was tight and focused and Cat always gives the best interviews. I would listened to a 10 part podcast with just Cat.

for real... i would have loved to hear her talk about "In A Large Room With No Light"... she beat the shit out the drums on that joint...one of my favorite drum performances on a song EVER

. Except The Current is six hours behind art19.com in posting it. And the Prince Estate last week didn't advertise the podcast until Saturday or so. . Just like the olden days when Prince announcements were often first on prnewswire.com and only hours or days later on his official website. © Bart Van Hemelen

And so, we can post the direct link into this thread. That seems appropriate to me.

I suspect Sheila is intentionally staying away from the hype for this release because she does not want to rain on anyone's "Parade." She did record a whole album with Prince ("Sheila E.) in 1985 and 1986 when SOTT was recorded, so she probably has some real insight on the making of the the album. Being in the SOTT band and in the studio with Prince creating music witih him and being one of his girlfriends at the time probably makes her the one person left on this earth who is most qualified to talk about the album. She probably saw what people did to her after she had the nerve to say she made the man a lemon cake and decided to sit this one out.

This is in another great episode. I liked hearing about how the visuals came together . Sign o the Times has my favorite Prince album cover, and I always liked the images inside of Cat holding the heart and Prince with knee up.

. Yeah, let's listen to the woman who thinks she recorded her second album in a building that hadn't been built yet at that time. The woman who claimed they recorded her debut album in a week, which is technically true if you ignore that Prince had recorded all those songs weeks before Prince even conceived of doing a solo album with her and that all they did in that week was adding her vocals and her percussion to already finished tracks. © Bart Van Hemelen

Sheila was touring with Lionel Ritchie in 1986. Susannah was engaged to, and living with Prince for the majority of 1986. Not sure how much time Prince would have had for Sheila to be his "girlfriend". * I imagine, based on recent events and statements from others who were in the camp back then, if Sheila cannot be the focus of these podcasts then she may not want to participate.

Again, Sheila recorded a whole album with Prince in 1986. Your Sheila was not available to record in 1986 theory is false. Check Prince Vault. She was there during the relevant period as an artist. Prince found time to have plenty of romantic interests at the same time. We would be naive to think that Prince was ever committed to one person for more than 2 weeks based on everything that has come out. [Edited 10/1/20 9:25am]

Would love to see your critical eye turn to W&L&S&S but I won't hold my breath. You'd rather say it's everyone else dreaming things up and scrutinizing too heavily. Qwhite interesting.

Girl please. It is very common knowledge that Prince was fucking Sheila for the duration of his relationship with Susannah. Why do you think she got tired of it and left? Because he's writing songs about how much he loves and loves to fuck other women the same time she's alone designing the drapery in the palace on the hill.

I listened to the podcast today. Some new stuff to be learned about how it all unfolded, but overall more of what we already know.

They could have done a lot of things, I suppose. You should write to the shows producers, have them create a version just for you; and maybe they'll think about the dozens of other Prince zealots, and create singular versions that cater directly to their needs as well...needs that prefer history to be told just the way they like it. This place. Seriously.

The only time prince was committed to one woman at a time was when he was married and even they didn’t last long lol towards the end of his life he had multiple women too. He sent Susannah home and flew in Sheila and or Jill Jones to France during filming so again...he was definitely slinging dick every which way

- Even for a European here, though it was super funny - Love the episode. Funny story of Prince's father and Cat. Mr. Nelson probably thought his 'son' was... you know. - "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. And wiser people so full of doubts" (Bertrand Russell 1872-1972)
