I visited my local Hastings this afternoon, and to kill time I took a look at what used Prince they had. I kid you not - there were 20 used copies of 1999-The New Masters. I'm guessing those might be there for awhile. (selling for 4$ a piece) How many of you actually kept your copy?

They are mostly in smaller towns. They have a great selection of used stuff. Every small town that I pass through that has one, I stop by and check out their used bins and clearance bins. I went to the one in Tyler, Texas today and they had the Come album, Emancipation, Chaos and Disorder and Purple Rain used for $6 each. They have a website at www.gohastings.com

That may be the stinkyest Prince song/scam ever. I never listen to it--Actually, I threw it away.

I stil have mine, only listened to it once. It collects a lot of dust in my c.d. collection

I was also a used CD 'wrecka stow' today. I picked up a copy of Batman for $6 Canadian... that's about...hmmm... $3US, if that much.

I don't have, nor did I see 1999- new masters. Had they had it, I would have picked it up also even it it's just going to collect dust.

I remember hearing a clip from fye.com of it. I believe there is an acappela version of "1999" on it. And all it was, was the vocals seperated from the backround music. I couldn't believe it.

I thought 1999 TNM was easily the worst thing he had ever put out for public consumption. The Beautiful Experience (the CD with all those different sucky versions of a sucky song) is close behind.

Before most or all of the Wherehouse Music stores closed up I would always see at least one copy of the new masters, and several copies of crystal ball in that ugly case, in the used section.

So are we all in agreement? That 1999 TNM is the worst Prince release ever?!?

I never bought it. Heard a friend's copy and thought it was garbage. Had I not heard that damn song 2 thousand zero zero times in the weeks before the end of the millenium, I may have purchased it just for my collection.

I brought it on purple vinyl could not wait 2 put it on so I did but I could not wait 2 turn it off either.A few weeks ago I thought I would give it another try unlike wine this did not mature with age
