DREAM FACTORY - The Complete Version

Like everyone else I compiled a DREAM FACTORY playlist after the release of SOTT Deluxe last week. I decided to take a different spin than the official final tracklist Prince put together on July 18th. I wanted to make a "Complete Version" that contained every track that was part of all 3 different variations. I put all the tracklists together and tried to see how to make them fit cohesively yet still maintain aspects of their original placment within the tracklists Prince put together. Here is what my tracklist looks like:

1. Visions

2. Neveah Ni Ecalp A

3. Dream Factory

4. Wonderful Day

5. Train

6. The Ballad Of Dorthy Parker

7. Big Tall Wall (version 1)

8. It

9. And That Says What?

10. Strange Relationship

11. Teacher, Teacher

12. Slow Love

13. Starfish & Coffee

14. Colors

15. In A Large Room With No Light

16. I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man

17. Sign O' The Times

18. Sexual Suicide

19. Crystal Ball

20. Power Fantastic

21. Last Heart

22. Witness 4 The Prosecution

23. Movie Star

24. A Place In Heaven

25. The Cross

26. All My Dreams

Thoughts?

Nice! That really shows how many great songs Prince had lined up for this project.

I did the same but removed the songs that made it onto SOTT. The second half is still amazing but the playlist falls off a bit without stuff like Dorothy Parker and It up top.

Only thing I would change is to put Neveah Ni Ecalp A before Sexual Suicide. Without the segue into Dream Factory, it just doesn't make sense after Visions - slows down the start way too much.

Colors should be directly preceding the longer take of I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man. I see it as the intro to it.

I did a playlist in my classic Ipod as well but from the final DF version (I put the Susannah’s AW). I kept below songs from the bootleg as on the (excellent) SOTT SDE, they are different:

-Ni Ecalp A

-Dream Factory

-Strange relationship

-Crystal Ball

-I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man

-Last Heart (as it is not well sequenced in the 98’ release)

-Sign O’ The Times

-Movie Star

Look great but the "Neveah Ni Ecalp A" on Dream Factory has never been released. Its not the track on the SDE but a :51 edit segue that introduces the title track.

Also its not possible go create the "do you like enviromental records" bit without some craft Audible skillz.

That makes sense! Perfect. Thanks! Plus it breaks up that sound between those two tracks for a breather.

Sure if you need it to be overlayed on top of A Place in Heaven. The intact but is on Crystal Ball.

It was a self contained track on the June 3rd configuration, which is the only one committed to mastering stage. It was removed when he started de-constructing the Revolution Dream Factory and replacing some of the band songs with new solo ones (July).

I'm still hoping we might get Record Day proper reconstructions of each project!

I find it very hard to find any song that segues successfully into Dream Factory (on streaming, leaving aside bootlegs for now), what works for you lot?
