listening to It Be's Like That.. right now - LOVING IT!

I'm sure others will grow on me.... cool

PS it's too short!!!! why they feel the need to fade 'em out - Prince might of chosen the fade on the mixdown tape, but I'm sure there's more on the master tape - why not let it flow?

Much like the James Brown stuff that came out (Foundations of Funk), the full take is always better than edits and fades!

Lots of music to digest so I stopped on yesterday afternoon and will resume at some point on next week- gotta take my time with this and really listen to/analyze/absorb some of this new excellence.

*

Still haven't listened to: 2nd half of Vault 2, any of Vault 3 (except Rebirth), Uterct live.

*

With that said, joints that've been on repeat since yesterday and that I'm really feeling:

-La La La and Housequake 12"s

-All My Dreams

-Can I Play With U?

-Witness v.1

-And That Says What?

-Blanche

-Soul Psychodelicide****

-Rebirth Of The Flesh

****- my favorite (so far) of the Vault tracks

You know what - this is all overwhelming.

I thought the 1999 SDE was good - this is next level.

Obviously it's great to have great quality versions of the classic bootlegs we've owned for years and years...and, while Blanche really surprised me, I'm stuck in a loop back to 1988 when I heard In All My Dreams and a song called "Welcome to the Ratrace". Absolutely beautiful.

No doubts opinions will change!

Oh - and, of course, Power Fantastic with all that it is on this version...magical.

It's great to finally hear In A Large Room in studio quality (as opposed to 5th generation cassette tape quality!). I rate that as one of his best songs ever.

Completely agree! Still can’t believe we have this masterpiece finally in pristine quality. This set is so mind blowing so far.

Coca Boys is growing on me! I just wish they didn't mix the audeince sound noise so high... ik there's a point to it, but the crowd noise is too damn high, i'd like to pay attention to the story but its distracting for me....

Strange Relationship is one of my all time favorite songs ever so the original is really the strongest moment for me. Others I am truly loving: Soul Psychodelicide, Promise To Be True, Love and Sex, the remastered Hot Thing, remastered extended U Got the Look, Train, Walkin in Glory, Cocoa Boys, Crucial, and of course Large Room.

In a Large Room...is 85 percent of the reason I got the SDE...just so I can play it on vinyl. It is in my top 3 P songs of all time.

"You know, this is funky but I wish he'd play like he used to, old scragglyhead son of a...*smack* OOH!"

The reason ive bought this set, is because of the upgraded ''SOTT'' album, but even more for the Utrecht concert. Although ive attended the one on june 21, out of the 13 times i saw him live, the SOTT concert was the best ever.

Re: the bolded- I wouldn't say all that but I can dig your sentiments as it was always one of my favs off of the original album. That said, hearing the original was an unexpected real treat and makes me appreciate the album version even more- really brings home Prince's gift for arranging and producing. That damn sitar goes hard...

Yeah. When I heard this, I was thinking: now I remember why I'm a Prince fan! Because he is fonkay!! headbang
But I also love Power Fantastic and the early version of Forever In My Life and Witness.
If you take any of this seriously, you're a bigger fool than I am.

"Wonderful Day", both versions.

Yes, I've heard that before, but never cared much.

Now I'm hooked. It's so brilliantly messy and from that most psychedelic side of The Revolution.

When The Dawn Of The Morning Comes is getting slept on. It's Baby I'm a Star pt. 2 meets gospel.

Love & Sex.

Interesting that some of what I was really anticipating like Shockadellica and Rebirth of the Flesh feel lackluster, and now I'm starting to love Wally.

But there's a lot of suprises like U Got the Look where there's more separation in the synths and it sounds different (to my ears) in a good way.
