PRINCE CLEAR ANSWER ABOUT VAULT RELEASES Just in passing about the eternal debate :
"For or against posthumous releases?" Prince (The View, 2012) "One day someone will release them I don't know that i don't get to release them..." 4 years later, no change of heart and no will! Let's hear it... (they will recognize each other) Personally, I benefit greatly from what comes out. [Edited 9/26/20 4:46am]

So anyway what's the next SDE? You keep alluding, in your sexy thick french typing accent, that it isn't Parade.

I think there would be very few people on this forum that aren't aware of that quote. Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.

He knew there was too much in the Vault to be released in his lifetime. Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

laytonian said: He knew there was too much in the Vault to be released in his lifetime. . There’s an obvious difference between belief and fact. . You can literally believe anything you want. . But the fact is, the statement made on The View is so obtuse it is rendered utterly meaningless. I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

I think no will is the biggest indicator that he believed that when he moved on from this life to the next, that was it. He had to be cool with reliquinishing that control, otherwise he obviously would have had a will or at least some kind of demonstrative instructions.

He made similar comments over the years, nothing super detailed or that informative though. But all in all he did pass away and all of this material, good material, is there. I think that putting great music in the world for people to enjoy is a much more productive use of it all rather than not

At this point, who cares! He's gone, the vault is and will be released in its entirety continously and most of us will be dead long before its all released!!! So stop bitching about it!!!

Technically they don't "own" it, neither the masters let alone the physical tapes the music was recorded on. That much we know for a fact. If what love2thenine's says is true, WB owns an unlimited exclusive licence to distribute the material. But WB could not force Prince to release it neither can they force the Estate. So I doubt they could have sued Prince (or that they could sue the Estate) for a loss of profit, since all he had to do was what he did: sit on the material, and the Estate could also choose to do this if they so wished. I mean they could try, and possibly win, but technically the music does not belong to them. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Update ! From what i heard recently from a contact.....WB/SONY would have recently reached an agreement finally on the sharing of future releases for the next few years, it seems good news for fans so confirmed? of course this info is unofficial and there are no details .... we'll see the schedule of releases planned for 2021.... in the spring of next year we should know more I guess?
