It's Fabulous...But It Still Bothers Me That...

Those songs released on Crystal Ball 1998/1999 aren't included. It just feels incomplete. Anyone else feel that way? And how the fuck could they not release Crucial Sax Version?

Can't you just take the songs from Crystal Ball 1998/99 and, you know, make a playlist including them?

Or the Girl O my Dreams can’t Stop we can Funk session. But there’s only so much they can jam in. This is still the best box set of all time.

I'm a CD guy and sure I made my own "bonus bonus disc". Maybe it's my OCD that I want the box to be complete but dayum the box is great

I'll be making a "playlist" myself but mastering-wise those CB98 tracks are some of the worst ever, it's gonna be one jarring playlist transition-wise.

Most of them exist in alternate mixes that could have been included. Including the CB98 mixes would have been completely dumb, though.

I made a Crystal Ball playlist as suggested, but CB sounds so loud but also lacking the dynamics of the surrounding tracks. So yes, when you include a mixes, edits and b-sides disc but don’t include the CB material or Big City Lights’ Good Love, it makes no sense. You don’t get a full picture of SoTT without CB or DF.

Yes, Goodlove, Joy in Repetition, Girl O My Dreams, Movie Star, Can't Stop This Feeling I Got / We Can Funk and U Gotta Shake Something and 101 are notable omissions. Also the original sitar style version of Strange Relationship (from 82/85?). What happened to that?

I just hope they are saving some songs back for an original Crystal Ball/Dream Factory/Camille sets, at some point in the future - a lot of the versions we have here are actually slightly different mixes/edits than the final configs of those albums.

Your set omits Strange Relationship? Interesting.

I do wish they included those tracks...only because they would have sounded better on this set. cB of 1998 was brickwalled and compressed mess.

Yes, there's an earlier version with Indian sounding instruments dating from 82-85?

How about a CB remaster, then?

Let's hope they'll do that someday. I'd also like them to release the original versions of Come (with the uncluttered Endorphinmachine), D&P and Emancipation (original one-disc) at some point, even if only as digital download files.

Oh also, it's missing The Sex Of It, which would have sounded great here.

Love this song (both versions)...maybe it didn't make Howe's cutoff for SOTT Era songs?

I also don't understand why this GEM wasn't a bigger hit for Kid Creole...fickle pop fans.

100. And hearing some of those who worked with him share how he wanted everything "mixed in the red" leads me to believe that his hearing had been going for a while.

Yes, and I recall a lot of people (on here) commenting that some of his gigs with 3rd Eye Girl were insanely loud. Like, loud enough to rival Motorhead, or My Bloody Valentine.

it shouldn't be, but it was also considered for Dream Factory and the Roadhouse Garden album
