Honestly, I'm the first to give Michael Howe shit but that wasn't that bad of an interview.

The above and this quote really stand out as bs

Yes. Things that were put aside, that we think Prince did not return to in any kind of meaningful way — we left those alone, out of respect for Prince’s artistry and decision-making process.

Hes doing a good job.
Not a perfect one.
But a very good one.
Yeah there are some songs I wish were on this sott release, but he doesn't deserve to be written off.

I don't even understand what this quote means? What does "return to" mean? What is "meaningful"?

Wow, the more you pick it apart the more offensive it gets.

Hes also having to be a diplomat about these things
Hes just a guy answering to the estate
So he doesnt have 100% autonomy

I dunno. I really like what Michael Howe has to say. He's pretty straighforward, insightful, and doesn't have a lot of double talk or BS. Obviously, he wants to paint Prince in a positive light, but I don't think he's spinning false narratives to do so.

Would you all really be annoyed with purchasing a sequenced ordered release of Dream Factory even though we have the songs already? Because I know I wouldn't.

Either he's incompetent or lying, but either way this is an insult to the fans, really. Same with Crystal Ball BTW.

.

"and not really much of the instrumental stuff that ended up as part of the Flesh"

The Flesh was before Parade, so thanks God, Michael!

.

"We sent hundreds of tracks for Bernie Grundman to master, and we kind of whittled it down from there. It was a tremendously forensic undertaking. We had to put about a third aside."

If true, this is great news, it means all that stuff is ready for release at a further date biggrin

.

About Miles: "There was more stuff that never really got finished as such."

So Prince wasn"t lying after all? Mmmh...

.

"out of respect for Prince’s artistry and decision-making process"

...says Dr. Frankenstein... But hopefully this won't happen again. Just please rerelease Originals with proper mixes!!!

These things are obvious RSD or online store material. It'll come in due time.

I'm not at liberty to say, all I can reveal is that Michael Howe does exist, in what form on these boards is harder to ascertain.

Regarding the testpressing of Camille.

- Does anyone know the exact timings,

- Crossover between songs,

- And are they exactly the same (as more sped up voices).

I am really curious because I remember end 80's that I had a cassette with Camille stuff and housequake was more sped up as voice. Not sure how/when and ofcourse the cassettetape ended up garbled in the player so I cannot verify anymore.

The speed of bootlegs vs speed of official versions is something few ppl can verify as those bootlegs were dubbed from tapes over and over which made them faster.

I just realized:

"We sent hundreds of tracks for Bernie Grundman to master, and we kind of whittled it down from there. It was a tremendously forensic undertaking. We had to put about a third aside. So basically you have maybe two-thirds of what we initially envisioned might be part of the universe of possibilities."

A third of 45 = 15, se we're talking about 60 songs give or take. What happened to "hundreds of tracks"?

Is there something I misunderstand or something doesn't add-up?

Or should we understand "we sent hundreds of songs -> selected 60 from these -> selected 45 from these 60"?

The latter, I feel.

But even then, why would you send "hundreds" to be mastered unless you intended on releasing them - just not on this set?

Edit: wait, I wonder if he meant they sent hundreds for multiple projects? And they envisioned 60 for SOTT and the rest of the hundreds for say... Parade, Purple Rain, GB...

Could also mean that with "tracks" he meant different songs and several different versions of some of the songs.

That isn't even a single hundred much less multiple hundreds.

I bet it's stuff like "Funky", so songs built around what Miles played on "Can I Play With U?". I hope I'm wrong, though.
