Parade Super Deluxe?

yes, i'm a greedy fan...like the rest of you smile I've not received my 8 disc SOTT set but am already thinking of how the Parade Super Deluxe might look.

Disc 1 - a remaster. I think this album sounded pretty good to begin with but surely they can bring forth more.

Disc 2 - obligatory edits but this era may have been best or extended cuts. Mountains remains my favourite extension...all that after the album fade is just amazing. I'd love to get this remastered!

The Vault discs may be an issue as SOTT seemed to get everything. However, the absence of Old Friends 4 Sale leads me to believe, a Parade SD will be coming. It's too glaring a miss on SOTT SD.

Disc 3 - Old Friends 4 Sale (maybe multiple versions), Heavan, There Are Others Here With Us, Little Girl Wendy's Parade, Eternity, Neon Telephone...not sure what else...any suggestions? Perhaps, the Flesh Session - 4 tracks to round out the disc?

Disc 4 - The Family Album with Prince on lead. I think this is critical to include. The sound makes it cousin of Parade. With Prince on lead, this is a hell of an album. I want High Fashion with bass. I want the faster tempo Desire. I want it all.

Disc 5 - live album...although he had better bands after, I love how loose this tour was. I can't wait for a release of a show from this tour. Suggestions?

DIsc 6 - Should we go wth a pro shot (not camcorder) Joe Louis Arena Detroit birthday show in its entirety? Should we go for something out of the vault? The pic is so so on that vault stuff.

A version of The Family album with Prince on vocals would be worth the price of admission alone. thumbs up!

This thread has been done to death but you gotta know disc 3 is more than just those outtakes we've had for 30 years.

There are enough tracks for at least 2 vault selection discs.

Come Elektra Tuesday
Go
Splash
Evolsidog
Empty Room
Call of The Wild
Heaven
Funny Love
Others Here With Us
An Honest Man
Stella and Charles
God Is Everywhere
Tibet
Polka Dot Tiger
Killin At The Soda Shop
Living Doll
Zebra With The Blonde Hair
All the flesh stuff.

Probably a few alternate versions we don't know about

Neon Telephone would also fit, unless that ends up on Originals 2

I assume it would. Only Train made it on to Sign deluxe of the songs from the era that were given to other artists. I guess Train made it due to it's connection to Dream Factory.

This to me suggests songs like 101, Telepathy etc are being save for Originals at some point.

For the lve album, I truly hope that it will B my first concert that I attended: Monday August 25th 1986 at The Zenith Paris. It was recorded as we know. If not, It might B the last concert in Yokohama that W&L reffered to during The SOTT SDE episodes.

Parade would be a fantastic option. I'd look forward to The Flesh, Family and Jill Jones-related material with Prince vocals. I've always adored Prince's Baby, You’re A Trip circulating on boots, but something about the Originals version is just plain off. Prince's G-Spot and All Day, All Night have also always been favourites - hopefully they come out better.

I honestly thought Purple Rain might get a proper deluxe vinyl re-issue after this, but I'd definitely be more thrilled in a Parade re-issue.

In my opinion, Parade — Lovesexy beats the Beatles, Bob Dylan, shit maybe even Stevie Wonder (although i’m not sure, maybe later i’ll change my mind like usual), and others
From basic songwriting, to musicianship, to prolificity... jeez, he just could NOT STOP writing genius songs at this time.... (well maybe he could, he also wrote Graffiti Bridge in 87)... but most of what came out of him was at least decent to genius, godtier songs...

Yeah, i’d love a Parade SDE lol

Soul Psychodelicide and It’s A Wonderful Day would have gone nicely on this deluxe. I think they’ll sound out of place on the SOTT package.

Would love to hear early takes of The Question of U or watch the unreleased Love or Money video.

How could they sound out of place? Wonderful Day was slated for release. Soul Psychodelicide is referenced in Joy In Repetition.

The Family album was nearly entirely recorded in 1984, in tandem with ATWIAD, in the breaks of the Purple Rain tour. It was released in Aug 85, before the final 2 singles from ATWIAD. It sits firmly in the 'Around the world in a day; super deluxe playground.

Also, Eternity.

The unreleased Clare Fischer versions are also a must for Parade SDE! Also I think some instrumentals from the film would be awesome - for instance the version of Mia Bocca (spelled Boca in the film credits).

Oh yeah. Forget extras, live shows, Vault tracks... If we're talking purely about remastering an existing album and making it sound better/cleaner/deeper, then ATWIAD should be top of the "next SDE" list. The original CD is so thin and tinny. It's such a musically complex and diverse set of songs, the entire thing would benefit greatly from having the soundscape deepened and opened up.

Agreed. If we consider the time period between 1999 SDE & SOTT SDE, it's ten months. Thus I would say next July. It would make sense according what Michael Howe said:

"SDE: Is it reasonable to expect something to come out next year. One project a year?

MH: That’s reasonable. I think that’s probably about right."

We're very lucky...No complaints allowed.

A full length great quality “Heaven” is something I’ve wanted to hear for about 30 years. Can’t imagine Parade is next on the deluxe edition schedule, but very much looking forward to it.

I’m a pretty big Fan but it brings into context which songs are part of which sessions.

Of all the 'known' bootlegs, 'Heaven' is the one I thing that would most benefit from an official release. Its a classic in the making.
